DAY 1

DAY 1 -

This tour essentially aims at kickstarting your Budapest experience by providing you an oversight of the main attractions, but can be adjusted to your needs, should you want to deviate from the proposed itinerary. You will be needing a public transportation pass. For details contact me in advance.

We will meet in Heroes’ Sq. under archangel Gabriel as this is the most outlying tourist attraction. The square is the most grandiose one of the nation aimed at providing a crash course into 1000 years of Hungarian history in Europe, making legends and legendary personalities come to life.

Behind the square lies City Park, one of the green lungs of the city, with a lot more to discover than we have time for (The Szechenyi Baths, the Zoo, the Hungarian House of Music, etc.). Our focus will be on Vajdahunyad Castle, an architectural masterpiece and almost fairly tale like construction. If the Witcher, or Dracula rings a bell, this must be on your bucket list.

We will take a ride along the first metro of continental Europe all the way to the central area of the city, where we will walk passed St. Stephen’s Cathedral towards the Hungarian Parliament. These two buildings have exactly the same height and no other building in downtown Budapest may be built higher, but I will tell you all about that on the tour.

We hop on the iconinc Budapest tram, for a change, and ride all the way to the Great Market Hall along one of the most scenic lines of the world, which is also a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1987. Visiting the Market Hall is not our priority here, unless time allows it.

We cross over to the Buda side to Gellert Sq. renown for one of the most elegant thermal Baths of Hungary: Gellert Spa and take the tram towards the castle area. Depending on circumstances we will take the best route up to the castle.

The main highlight of our tour will be the exploration of the castle district composed of three separate areas: the residential, the administrative and the royal one. You will get to see one of the places with one of the best views in the world in 2023: the Fisherman’s Bastion. This is also the place for small snack: an authentic Budapest strudel.

You may choose to remain here, but I am also happy to escort you back down to the city center, to Deak Ferenc Sq. which is by the Jewish Quarter. Should we still have some time left, I will happily introduce you to the highlights of the Jewish Quarter.

Good things are meant to be shared!
