The best time to visit Exbury Gardens in Hampshire is in April and May. 

These gardens are famous for their rhododendrons and azaleas, which are in full bloom at this time. 

Lionel de Rothschild (famous banking family) founded these gardens in c.1924. He was a famous hybridizer, who created 452 hybrids of rhododendrons, which are registered with the Royal Horticultural Society.

If you visit the New Forest in the Autumn, then you will have the opportunity to see the pigs roaming the forest.

Autumn is pannage season when pigs are released to eat up all the acorns (oak tree nuts), which are poisonous to the ponies and cattle. 

When you visit Stonehenge, look out for Gertrude. She is a Great Bustard. Great Bustards were hunted to extinction by the early 1800s. This species of bird has been recently re-introduced back to this area, and Gertrude is one of them. She is very friendly and may come up to you, if you call her. The Great Bustard is represented on the flag of Wiltshire, the county where the Stonehenge is located.

Southampton is famous for the Titanic. When you walk by South Western House, near dock gate 4, look through the window, and you will see the staircase that was used as a model for the staircase on the Titanic, for the exclusive use of 1st class passengers. 

When you visit the New Forest, then visit Minstead Church, not far from Lyndhurst. There you can find the grave of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. He was the author of the Sherlock Holmes stories. 

If you look carefully, then you can see a magnifying glass and a tobacco pipe placed on the base of the gravestone.
