Hip, bohemian, and brimming with revolutionary history - Chihuahua is a quirky Mexican town with a style all its own. The city was the seat of government for President Benito Juárez during the French invasion, it was a base during the Mexican Revolution, and is now a prominent city of Mexico. While most travelers just pass through this fascinating city, you must stay here for a few days to experience authentic and offbeat Mexico. When compared to other Mexican cities, Chihuahua ranks higher in terms of human and social development. It lies at the intersection of the rivers Chuviscar and Sacramento–and this is reflected in its name, in the Nahuatl language, which translates to ‘between two waters’. At Chihuahua, you can enjoy the stately colonial buildings, charming plazas, and pedestrianized lanes flanked by restaurants, cafes, and bars. To ease your travel planning, we have compiled a list of the best things to do in Chihuahua, Mexico.

1. Browse through war mementos at Historical Museum of the Mexican Revolution

An ornate, hacienda-style house, on the dusty outskirts of Chihuahua, stands testimony to the larger-than-life Mexican revolutionary, Francisco “Pancho” Villa. The Historical Museum of the Mexican Revolution is housed in the estate of General Francisco Villa and his widow, Sra. María Luz Corral de Villa. The General’s extensive collection of war mementos, memorabilia, souvenirs, and documents about revolutionary leaders were turned over to the Mexican government in 1981 when Mrs. Villa died. Now all these fascinating historical objects are housed in the museum. The highlights of the museum include the bullet-ridden car that Villa was assassinated in, as well as his photographs during the Mexican Revolution, letters, pistols, rifles, and saddles.
