It is modelled in a seventies style building and is cased in dark hardwood timber that makes it look very nice; the lobby in particular, with its huge rock fireplace, is a beautiful sight to see and a lovely place to sit and relax in. The entire grounds here are wonderful and you will certainly see beautiful views of the hills and lots of flowers and plants. The rooftop terrace is recommended as you can take some great shots of the sunrise and sunset over the hills. Turn off the noise from your busy life and be at peace with nature whilst being in luxurious surroundings at the Sarova Taita Hills Game Lodge.
Some rooms have exclusive views of the watering hole
It has 60 standard rooms with exquisite views of the lush gardens surrounding the lodge. All rooms are with a double, twin or triple set of beds and have a private viewing balcony. Some of the rooms have exclusive views of the watering hole where you can see elephants, buffalos, zebras and other wild animals walking by and having a drink. The rooms include comfortable beds, toiletries and a bath and shower facilities. All beds are turned down in the evening, adding a nice touch to your luxurious stay. If you wish to have some more luxury, then I would recommend that you book to stay in one of the two suites at this establishment which are more spacious and include a pleasant lounge and enhanced bathroom.
Fantastic buffet meals and chefs cooking to order
The main restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner on a buffet basis is called the Chala Restaurant. It is also fitted with live cooking counters meaning that you can have a dish prepared to your exact desire. It’s a real spectacle meeting the personable and positive chefs and seeing them cooking fresh ingredients in action. The food, whether it has been tailor made or is from the buffet is definitely outstanding. There are lots of choices available and dietary requirements are certainly considered. I would have to recommend the breakfast which includes fruit, porridge, cereals, breads, pastries and even freshly cooked delectable pancakes. Sarova Taita Hills Game Lodge also has a Lobby Bar, which is the ideal place to unwind while listening to the rich tunes of the Taita people. In line with other Sarova Hotels, the staff are very courteous and efficient and if they find out that you’re celebrating an occasion, then they will make your memory a little bit more special with a surprise (which I won’t ruin by revealing here).
Experimental dining anyone?
No matter who you are, this is a place to be yourself and feel welcome. You really do get the opportunity to isolate yourself from the mundane routine in life, connect with nature and be more mindful. I have to recommend the experimental dining opportunity that Sarova Taita Hills Game Lodges offers as it is one-of-a-kind. This is because it provides guests with the unique opportunity of dining in the wilderness. For example, you can have a delicious breakfast accompanied with champagne in the outdoors with the Taita Hills as your backdrop or a bush dinner at Kudu Point, the highest location in the sanctuary. From Kudu Point, you can even see the most incredible views of Mount Kilimanjaro (contingent on weather conditions).
Tulia wellness tent and a divine swimming pool
Sarova Taita Hills Game Lodges offers a wonderful spa experience in its Tulia wellness tent, which is managed by trained massage therapists. The type of treatments available here include Swedish, aromatherapy and Ayurveda. In addition, it provides a wide range of outdoor activities for guests including the opportunity to swim or play darts, volleyball, badminton and table tennis. With Taita Hills being quite hot and dusty, the divine and immaculately maintained swimming pool, surrounded by blissful gardens, offers respite from the heat. There are sunbeds all around the pool area and a friendly pool attendant supplying towels. On occasions, there is also an animation team that organises and conducts activities such as aqua aerobics.
Excursions and activities in abundance
People are in awe as to how beautiful Taita Hills is so you won’t be surprised to hear that Sarova Taita Hills Game Lodge offers day and night game drives so that you can photograph the variety of wildlife within the sanctuary. I would especially recommend the night game drives as most of the predators are active at night, so a game drive opportunity will allow you to really experience the wildlife at its best. Alongside experiencing game drives, Sarova Taita Hills Game Lodge also offers you the opportunity of visiting a local and authentic village so you can learn about Kenya’s culture. In addition, you have the option of taking a nature walk with a qualified ranger guide who will focus on teaching you about the natural environment as you walk through the bush. The guides are conversant with the routes and animal movements and are great conversationalists.

I would urge you to consider staying at the beautiful and breathtaking Sarova Taita Hills Game Lodge. My most fond memory was when I saw hundreds of buffaloes swarming towards the watering hole and spotted a small group of adult elephants forming a circle around a baby elephant nearby to protect him from the stampeding buffaloes; this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that would be incredible for you to experience, too. With Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge being unable to accept children under the age of seven, families with young children are recommended to stay at Sarova Taita Hills Game Lodge instead and I can assure you that it is a brilliant alternative. If you are, however, staying at the Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge, then please note that you will be taken to Sarova Taita Hills Game Lodge for your lunch break as Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge only serves breakfast and dinner. Make sure that you take your swimwear as you can enjoy the swimming pool during your time there too.
