The park is located at an elevation of 900 m (3,000 ft) in the Mengen district in the north of Bolu Province and south of Zonguldak. It falls in the western Black Sea region. Established in 1965, it encompasses an area of 1,623 ha (4,010 ac). There are seven lakes in the park, which were formed due to landslides.
