Marktplatz includes the town hall and the statue of Roland. The town hall has been through many phases and different renovations. The statue of the famous German knight was built in 1404 and represents the city’s freedom and independence from the church. 2. The Rhododendron Park and Mühle am Wall

The Rhododendron Park is famous for its rhododendron and azalea collection. The park has been called a “riot of color.” The main flowering period is in March, April, May and June, so travelers should consider traveling during these months. Amongst the park is Bremen’s Old Town Walls, built in 1888. The town’s moat and windmill are also within the walls. 3. Universum Science Center

Universum Science Center is one of the newest attractions to Bremen made up from more than 40,000 metal tiles. It looks like a clam or whale dependent on where you stand and is full of hands on exhibits. The exhibits range from technology, humans and nature. Universum Science Center has daily science shows for every age! Recently a new attraction was added, the Turm der Lüfte. Turm der Lüfte is a 27 m (88 feet) tall tower offering some of the best views of the city of Bremen!

4. St. Peter’s Cathedral (St. Petri Dom)

This cathedral is the oldest church in Bremen at 1,200 years old with two twin 98 m (321 ft) tall towers. In the cellar there are mummified bodies, tombs and other articles that can be seen in the museum. Travelers have the opportunity to climb and see a view from the tower for a small charge- but it is well worth it.

5. Bremen Town Musicians Statue

Bremen Town Musicians is a statue of the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. Through the years, the fairy tale has become iconic causing a large amount of traffic towards this statue. The bronze sculpture was created in 1951 by Gerhard Marcks and is located in the center of the town. It may be crowded, but it is worth it!

6. Hole of Bremen

Schnoor Viertel is Bremen’s oldest district and is also known as the Schnoor quarter. Narrow lanes are full of houses from the 15th and 16th-century and they occupy the district. It is full of old structures/houses for eating, drinking coffee and shopping. The shops are usually open Sundays from 11am-4pm from April to December. This district appeals to locals and visitors. 8. Buergerpark

Buergerpark is one of Germany’s best maintained parks. This park is always open and free to everyone. Year-round there are paths for joggers around Buergerpark. There are often performances by the Bremen Shakespeare Company and the Music and Light concert at Lake Hollers. In the summertime people have the option to play mini golf or go rowing in the water.
