2. Travemunde

4. Holstentor
This gothic-looking city gate is one of the highlights of Lubeck. The gate is attractive to look at and you sure should not miss it. Inside the gate, there is a three-story museum that is very interesting. The most notable part of the museum is the miniature of the city built by school children.

5. Heiligen-Geist-Hospital
Heiligen-Geist-Hospital is a predecessor to our modern hospitals. This cathedral that dates back to the 12th-century served as a hospital during the war and did not belong to the church. Today, it is a delight for architecture and history lovers. A part of the complex now hosts the Christmas market.

6. Buddenbrookhaus
The Buddenbrookhaus is the former home of Nobel Prize-winning writer Thomas Mann and his family. The house is named after his novel of a wealthy Lubeck family, The Buddenbrooks. If you have read the novel, walking into and around the house would be like walking directly into the novel. You can see and experience all the setting of The Buddenbrooks. If you have not read the book, it does not matter because the whole house is so interesting and you will be curious to know more. You might just pick up the novel and start reading it after your visit. The museum also shows the life of Thomas Mann and his family. An interesting visit to know more about history and literature.

7. Marchenwald
Another one of Lubeck’s wonders, the Marchenwald provides a forest setting and fulfills your wish of exploring a forest. This is a wonderful place to visit with your children below 12 years; they will absolutely love the whole setting and the slides. There is a small rollercoaster too, that is interesting for the kids. 8. Zaubertheater Luebeck

This little theatre will give you one of the best theatre experiences in your life. The seating capacity is of only about 20 people, which means everyone is really close to the stage. The theatre will, however, move to a new location, which means the capacity will be more. The new location, in October, will be Becker pit 87. This place will surely give you and your family or friends a great time.

9. Markt Anno Dazumal
This typical German market gives you wonderful vibes; it is surrounded by old buildings, including the Rathaus. You can walk around the marketplace and admire the architecture of the buildings. The vibes that the market gives are very calming and the whole old-building’s aura provides a very relaxing effect.

10. Aegidienkirche
This former Church was bombed in 1943, after which, it was never repaired or reconstructed. The church was left in ruins as a war memorial. Inside the church, you will find a peace ball that was donated by Hiroshima, the sister city. The bell is rung each year by a delegate from each city on the exact date and time when Hiroshima was bombed. The church gives you a grim and poignant reminder of one of the worst human acts in history and takes your imagination back hundreds of years. A place that should definitely be visited.
