Wolfe’s Neck Farm Loop is a perfect beginner spot for an easy hike. The trekking area is by a farm that owns the trail and the trail itself, surrounds the farm. The trails are well marked and maintained and there are numerous shelters and benches along the trail built by local children. Pets are allowed on the trail but need to be accompanied with a leash and the option for renting bikes and kayaks is also an option for getting around either the trail or the nearby river.

3. Harraseeket and White Pines Trail Loop
Located between the Casco Bay and the Harraskeeket Rivers, this walking trail is nearby the lively town of Freeport, Maine. If you need to pick up some extra gear before you set out, there are shops in the town that are only a five-minute drive away. The area is frequently trafficked so there’s almost always other people on the trail. There’s distinct markers and paths along Harraseeket and White Pines Trail Loop so you’ll never be at the risk of getting lost. 4. Moxie Falls
Crossing the Appalachian Trail, Moxie Falls is regarded as one of the most beautiful locations in New England. Firewarden’s and Horns Pond Trails Loop intersects the Appalachian Trail and is located on the Bigelow Preserve which includes more than just a hiking trail. 6. Maiden Cliff Trail
Maiden Cliff Trail is roughly 2 mi (3 km) of trail in the hills surrounding the town of Camden, Maine. The trails are of moderate difficulty, so if you’re a beginner just make sure to show up prepared. Maiden Cliff Trail is a pretty popular trail as the gorgeous scenic views overlooking the Megunticook Lake are some of the best views around. 7. Mount Megunticook Trail
The Mount Megunticook Trail is a heavily crowded trail that also offers a direct route to the rest of Camden State Park. The total trail length goes as long as 4 mi (6.5 km). The trail is great for nature lovers as it is absolutely filled with wildflowers. The best time to visit Mount Megunticook Trail is between March and October. The trail is moderately difficult and dogs are allowed on the trails. On a clear day, you can see Mount Washington at a distance.

8. Bald Rock Mountain Trail
Bald Rock Mountain is one of the highest mountains in Camden Hills State Park and once you get to the top, you’ll be absolutely taken aback by the beauty. As a bonus, the trek is relatively easy so you’ll still have some energy once you get to the top. The trail is over 3 mi (5 km) long and dogs are welcome here on the trails. In the winter months cross-country skiing is practiced here.

9. Mount Agamenticus
Mount Agamenticus is a fascinating place that only offers some great hiking and trekking. However, it also has a lot of history behind it. In 1614 the man who chartered the names of the places around Maine returned to England and presented it to the king, where he anglicized all the names. Moreover, a local native Mi'kmaq chief was murdered in 1696 and was declared a martyr, afterward, his burial was done on top of the mountain and the story goes that anyone who adds a rock to the site will be promised good luck. The peak is a notable location as sailors can see it from a distance and even once at the top, you can get a view of Mount Washington and even the skyscrapers of Boston in the distance.

10. Baxter State Park
Baxter State Park is a preserve, and for those looking to do a little camping and hiking, this park is a great option. The park was established by a donor who gave the land to the state of Maine in the 1930s. What makes Baxter State Park interesting is that it is home to the state’s highest peak, Mount Katadhin. Baxter State Park is home to tons of wildlife including moose, black bears, coyotes and a variety of species of deer.
