The Amalfi Coast attracts thousands of visitors annually, and is an extremely beautiful stretch of coastline in the province of Salerno, Italy. In fact, I would highly recommend that you take a trip here with your significant other, as it’s truly a romantic destination.

Positano is the most picturesque and photogenic town along the Amalfi Coast, full of colorful rooftops, stunning mountain areas, and beaches. If these are things you are looking for in your next, or first journey to Italy, then let’s explore Hotel Villa Gabrisa in Positano, a former family villa that has been converted into a luxurious 4-star abode.

A cozy villa on the waterfront

Situated on the waterfront of this terracotta and pink vertical town, this eye-catching, quirky villa is sure to make your stay at the Amalfi Coast worthwhile. The inside of the hotel lobby is painted in white, with gold décor and decorative tiling, which adds a sort of contemporary meets French country appeal.

The staff are extremely helpful in answering your questions about the area, or even helping you to carry your belongings to your room. There is also a bulletin board to the right, when you walk in, that has a map, information about tours, scooter rentals, and more about what’s going on during your stay.

Keep in mind that check-in starts at 2pm and ends at 10pm, so try to arrange for an afternoon arrival if possible. If, by chance, you do have to wait a moment before 2pm, there are plenty of magazines and newspapers to choose from, with chairs set up outside where you can enjoy a cup of coffee and the outstanding view of the Mediterranean Sea.

12 individually decorated rooms

There are twelve rooms to choose from that are each individually decorated. Some of the rooms are located in the attic, some are in the adjoining wing to the main building, and on the second floor.

If you happen to be traveling with a group of friends, family, or if you and your loved one just want to indulge, there is even a suite that is nestled between the main building and the side wing, on the first floor. The attic rooms are actually quite cozy, and you’ll love the loft-like feel of staying here.

These rooms are about 162 square feet (15 square meters), making it the perfect choice for those traveling light, and who also want the highest views of the sea and town. Each room offers you a private balcony, mini-bar, a coffee/tea maker, electronic safe, an LCD TV, a desk for those who may be traveling for business, along with an air conditioner and central heating if you’re here during the winter months.

The attic bathrooms are equipped with a shower, hair dryer, and top-of-the-line L’Occitane products, such as the verbena shower gel and body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap.

You've got to try the limoncello

As well as there being quite a few cafès and eateries nearby, do make it a point to stop by the hotel’s Restaurant Da Gabrisa, located in-house to the left of the entrance when you first walk in. The chef uses only local ingredients from the region of Campania when preparing the delectable, and traditional dishes.

Campania is pretty famous for its peppers, marine life, and citrus fruits, which really stand out compared to other eateries. You’ll appreciate the adjoining bar, and the limoncello is a must-have, because, trust me, you will not find limoncello as good as what is served throughout the Amalfi Coast. If you are not familiar with this drink, it is made using locally grown lemons, and is a sweet yet bitter liquor that is just splendid after a meal.

The perfect place for family, friends, and pets

The 4-star Hotel Villa Gabrisa Positano is close to many sites, including the Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta (Church of Santa Maria Assunta), Fornillo Beach, and Piazza dei Mulini. Complimentary Wi-Fi is also available here in the public areas, along with a free continental breakfast.

One thing you should know, is that the hotel does allow pets to stay for free, so you can let Cosmo and Cleo tag along if you are one to travel with pets. The hotel does offer an airport shuttle fee for 100 EUR (114 USD) per room there and back.

The closest international airport is Naples International Airport, which is about a 1.5- to 2-hour trip. If you are driving your own car, there is valet parking available for 18 EUR (20.52 USD) per night. Not only is the Amalfi Coast in Positano, Italy, an extravagant place to take your vacation, it also makes for a nice two- or three-day trip outside of Rome, and vice versa.
