When visiting any city, you want to be sure you have a convenient, comfortable place to stay. That is why I recommend a stay in the newly completed design rooms at the Rixwell Old Riga Palace Hotel. This hotel is a great budget option if you’d like a private, quiet room, and are traveling alone or with your partner. Read on to find out what I liked about my stay.

Nicely designed rooms

Design Room at Rixwell Old Riga Palace Hotel

The new section of the hotel, which is located in a separate building that is connected via a walkway, has creatively designed rooms with heavenly beds, clean bathrooms, and unique accents such as the clear desk chairs. The beds in the design rooms are incredibly comfortable and I’m sure will provide you a great night of sleep. The exposed brick walls, hanging bedside lamps, and very large flat screen TV certainly adds a nice touch!

The room also has a complementary instant coffee and tea offering with cups, spoons, honey, and sugar. This was perfect for winding down after a long day exploring the numerous sights in Riga.

The bathroom in the design room at the Rixwell Old Riga Palace Hotel features a walk-in shower, sink, toilet, and toiletries mounted on the walls, which is very eco-friendly. The lighting in the bathroom was also nice and bright, which made it perfect for applying makeup.

One negative of the design rooms is that the Wi-Fi reception is problematic due to the rooms being slightly apart from the main building, although it did work at times. At least this was my experience for the design double room I stayed in on the third floor. If you are traveling for business, this hotel might not be the best pick for you, but if you are traveling for vacation and don’t need to access the internet frequently, this hotel is a great budget option for a short stay.

Other amenities

Rixwell Old Riga Palace Hotel

The Rixwell Old Riga Palace Hotel features a large complimentary breakfast spread with hot and cold items. Foods such as eggs, crepes, potatoes, cold cut meats, breads, and pastries are all available. Additionally, coffee, juice, and tea are also available for breakfast. If you happen to be traveling to Riga with a child, you’ll be happy to know that there is a play area with ample toys and high chairs.

The Rixwell Old Riga Palace Hotel also has a gym, bar, and spa located on site. Secure parking is available down the street, but comes at a fee of 15 EUR per day (16.83 USD). The hotel also has pet-friendly rooms, but this also requires an extra fee of 20 EUR (22.44 USD) per night.

Great location

View from St. Peter's Church

The Rixwell Old Riga Palace Hotel is located in the heart of Riga’s old town, just seconds away from the impressive St. Peter’s Church that allows for views over the entire city. Other sights, such as the Art Nouveau district, Dome Square, and Freedom Monument, are just a short walk away. Additionally, the Rixwell Old Riga Palace Hotel is a short walk from the bus and train stations, the famous Central Market, and a wonderful shopping center called Stockman’s.

A comfortable and quiet stay in the heart of Riga’s old town

The Rixwell Old Riga Palace Hotel is a comfortable and convenient accommodation for a short stay in a great location. It is a really nice option for couples who want to stay in the UNESCO World Heritage old town and puts you really close to so many of Riga’s highlights. Do be sure when you visit Riga to get out of the old town to see the best example of Art Nouveau architecture in Europe, the Riga Castle, and find great restaurants.
