One of the things you wouldn’t want to miss while traveling in Michigan is its historic lighthouse that’s standing tall on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan. Listed in the Coast Guard’s Light List as Manning Light, Robert H. Manning Memorial Lighthouse aid fishers by emitting a white flash every four seconds that will help them navigate the water safely during their evening trips to the shore. Also, the lighthouse is a tribute to Empire’s lifelong resident and fisherman, Robert H. Manning, who often wished for his hometown to have a lighthouse.
