Hotels and inns on the island
1. The Inn at Stonecliffe (from USD 350)
The Inn at Stonecliffe was started in 1905 when Michael Cudahy bought 150 acres (60 hectares) of land and hired the same architect that designed the governors mansion, to create what is now the summer cottage. Other owners made additions to the property and the Inn. It was restored and now remains in its elegant glory. The hotel offers guests use of the pool and bikes, as well as assistance booking tours and making dinner reservations. There’s two options for guests to stay, first in Cudahy Mansion Rooms, nicely decorated with a private bathroom but without air conditioning. The other option is the Summer House Suites, that have air conditioning, a sleeper couch and bed, as well as a mini fridge and kitchen.
