Currently, one of only 20 such hotels by Hilton, Tru is the fastest growing affordable hotel brand and expects to reach 400 hotels in the very near future. The whole design and layout has an unexpected, fresh flair and vibe, both in the guest rooms and in the common spaces. The TRU hotel in McDonough, Georgia may look traditional outside, but the inside is surprising. No wonder it is quickly gaining in popularity.

Traditional on the outside but surprising on the inside

When a TRU Hotel is placed near other chains at an interstate exit, it is hard to detect the differences just by looking at the exterior. The wow factor happens when you walk through the door. The lobby area is open, bright and colorful, and the 2880 square foot (267.5 square meters) space contains areas that overlap seamlessly between the reception desk, the breakfast area, workstations, a place to purchase snacks, meeting spaces for friends, family and business associates, a business center, and a game room, complete with a pool table.

Smaller but very efficient rooms

In the words of TRU advertisers, guest rooms have space for “everything you need and nothing you don’t.” For example, there are no closets, yet there are colorful hooks for hanging garments. The furniture is minimal, but the normal amenities are still in place. Space for luggage is under the bed, and there are shelves under the television for putting away clothes. TVs are 55" and include a wide range of premium channels.

The first TRU properties did not have desks in the guest rooms, instead providing lots of work spaces in the lobby. But, after listening to the feedback from guests, the first properties are being retrofitted, and future properties will include desks.

Plentiful amenities

All of the bathrooms have standing, glass-door showers and lots of light and counterspace. A hairdryer is provided along with toiletries by Not Soap, Radio.

Charging outlets for electronic devices are located liberally throughout the lobby and guest rooms, wireless internet is complimentary and free wireless printing is possible throughout the hotel.

Guests may stay on track with their fitness routines in the large fitness center containing a barre, resistance bands, cardio equipment and a variety of free weights.

Toppings galore for breakfast

At least thirty sweet and savory toppings are provided during the breakfast hours. Whether you are topping your yogurt, oatmeal or biscuits and eggs, there will be a wide assortment of fruits, nuts, sauces and cheese. Children, in particular, love all the sprinkles and pastries. Along with juices, there is plenty of coffee, tea and hot chocolate throughout the day or night. Snacks, beer and wine are available for purchase in the lobby.

Fascinating local attractions and delicious eateries
