The most authentic remnant of the Berlin Wall is the "Berlin Wall Memorial" or in German, "Gedenkstätte Berliner Mauer". It is located between the stations of Nordbahnhof and Bernauer Straße and is the only section where you can still see the so-called Death Strip, the Inner and Outer Wall, and an original Watch Tower. Lots of escapes took place here, and there's a memorial to all those who lost their lives trying to escape. There's also a free museum to visit and learn all about the Berlin Wall.

Visit one of the most unusual museums in Berlin, the Boros Bunker. It is located in a converted World War II bunker, which now showcases spectacular modern art. If you want to visit, book your tickets way in advance, as time slots are limited, and it is very popular. 

Each December, Berlin is home to dozens of amazing Christmas markets. One of the prettiest ones is in front of Charlottenburg Palace. Enjoy your mulled wine (Glühwein) and Bratwurst whilst gazing at the lit up palace. There's no better Christmas setting!

Step back into the Roaring Twenties - or as they were called in Berlin, The "Golden Twenties''. Clärchen's Ballhaus is a restaurant during the day and a ballroom at night - and it hasn't changed a bit since those crazy times over 100 years ago. The interior is simply spectacular. Definitely check out the mirror room upstairs, if it isn't reserved for a private wedding. 

Dorotheenstädtischer Friedhof - This little cemetery is a peaceful oasis in the middle of busy Berlin. Lots of famous Berliners were buried here - Bertolt Brecht, for example, (think Mack the Knife!) and Karl Friedrich Schinkel, Berlin's most prominent architect. There's even a little café by the entrance and a spectacular tomb covered in WW2 bullet holes. 

The longest section of the Berlin Wall is the East Side Gallery, which has been transformed into a massive open air art gallery. The murals all depict scenes of peace and unity, and these were painted by artists from all over the world. It is free to walk along and look at the art works. The most famous mural is "The Fraternal Kiss" by Russian painter Dmitri Vrubel. 

Berlin's oldest restaurant from 1621 is called "Zur letzten Instanz" and is a tucked away place that is perfect for all your favorite traditional German food: Sausages, pork knuckle and sauerkraut in abundance. 

When in Potsdam, don't just visit Sanssouci Palace. Have a stroll to the other end of Sanssouci garden and witness the biggest of all Potsdam palaces: The Neues Palais, or New Palace. It has over 200 rooms - the most spectacular being the Grotto hall, which is made up of thousands of shells and stones.

The queue to get up the TV Tower can be long. Most people don't know that you can have an equally amazing view right next door: from the top of Park Inn Hotel. Take the lift up to the top floor, climb a couple more stairs, pay a very small entrance fee and enjoy the most spectacular view of the city. There's even an open air bar up here! Hotel guests can enter for free.
