I have no interest in cooking but every interest in eating out at unusual and interesting spots all over the world. I have been fortunate enough to munch in some of the most fantastic restaurants in the world, whether on ground or on the sea whilst sailing in beautifully furnished boats. However, I have never had the experience of dining on a bus and when I read about Bustronome, I was extremely curious and had to book online immediately.

Bustronome is a high-end double decker bus that has a glass roof so that you can experience the phenomenal views and sites that Paris has to offer whilst enjoying a five- or six-course gourmet French meal. It does not matter what season you are visiting Paris, Bustronome will deliver an absolutely exceptional time as it is not dependent on the weather. If you’re only in Paris for a short period of time and you want to check-out all the major sites, then the best way to do that is to hop on-board to Bustronome, where you can tour this beautiful city in luxury and style, whilst enjoying hearty and delish food.

What is the point in enjoying Paris from a conventional restaurant when you can experience this magnificent location whilst on the move?

Getting a ride in a stylish restaurant

From the moment you enter Bustronome, you know you’re about to experience something special. With the little red carpet rolled out by the bus to your coat being taken and hung before you are ushered to your table on the upper deck, you know that the ride you’re about to take will be a tantalising yet informative experience!

Bustronome is a slick, sophisticated restaurant with the most personable and professional staff who made my experience absolutely fantastic. Once I was seated, I was able to fully appreciate the amount of time and detail that had been taken in making sure that Bustronome was suitable to be a restaurant. The seating was firm yet comfortable; the tableware was created in such a way so that the drinks could easily balance and the prospect of your drink spilling was highly unlikely. Every single guest on Bustronome had a window seat so that they could view all the famous monuments and iconic sites.

Enhancing your experience with technology

If you’re thinking that gourmet food and a tour guide with a microphone wobbling around on deck couldn’t work, don’t worry. Bustronome has no such tour guide but rather has utilised technology and created an audio pen, which operates in 8 languages and can be used at each diner’s discretion. For each site that Bustronome visits, it stops for a few moments where you can decide whether you want to press the audio pen to hear a description about the specific site that you are facing. This is absolutely wonderful as you have a choice, as opposed to it being imposed upon you. What I really like is that the audio pens were loud enough to hear but not too loud to bother anyone else seated at a separate table.

By travelling in Bustronome, you will get to see the Eiffel Tower, Hotel de Ville, Champs Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, Opera Garnier, Invalides and so many more places. Brilliantly, Bustronome also has exceptionally high speed Wi-Fi on board, which is perfect if you want to upload your fantastic pictures of the sites and the gourmet food.

Beautiful gourmet French cuisine

Bustronome believes in providing gourmet French cuisine one course after another and it most certainly does plate beautiful food. Some of the courses were tantalising to my taste buds and were unusual and flavoursome. However, as a vegetarian, I have to admit that not all courses were superb and adventurous and I feel that if Bustronome worked a little bit more on satisfying all dietary requirements, then it would be an unstoppable five-star restaurant on the move; until then, I would have to rate it a little bit lower. As the concept of offering food on-the-go whilst sightseeing is so new and different, I would still recommend trying this experience for a special occasion.

The course that I did love was the fourth course, which was the cheese, pear jam and lettuce course which was certainly appetising. The fruity dessert was also fresh and palatable.

Even the Parisians are doing it!

When local people are enjoying an experience which appears to be targeted at tourists, you know it has to be good! At least half of the diners on Bustronome when I visited were Parisians who were having a fantastic time on-board. Bustronome offers a lunch or dinner experience for which the cost differs. A lunch experience last around 2 hours and costs approximately 65 EUR (71 USD) whereas a dinner experience is 2 hours and 30 minutes and costs 100 EUR (110 USD) and also has an extra course! I embraced Bustronome during lunch-time and would definitely recommend it as something to do! I could only imagine that the dinner experience would be equally if not better as Paris is the European city of lights and Bustronome provides a unique way to enjoy it in style.
