Tip from Content Creator
Dubrovnik was such a lovely city, and we were lucky to get such good weather. I think September is the perfect time to go because it’s warm but you won’t be sweating through your clothes like you would in peak summer! Whether you’re a Game of Thrones fan or not, there is still plenty to see and do. Check out my recommendations for a memorable stay:
- Walk along the city walls to get the best views of the city and picturesque orange buildings.
- Take a guided Game of Thrones tour to learn some juicy stories about the show and cast; also, see where scenes such as the shame walk, Joffrey’s wedding and Blackwater Bay took place.
- Try the famous octopus burger at Barba.
- Go on a sunset kayak around the city walls.
- Swim in the lake at Lokrum Island, then sit on the Iron Throne.
- Have a Croatian dinner by the sea at Gradska Kavana Arsenal (try black risotto or fish stew!)
- Try authentic Bosnian cuisine at the Taj Mahal restaurant.
- Spend an evening on a ghost tour learning about urban legends about the city.
- Have a beer or wine on the edge of a cliff at Buza Bar.
- Take a day trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina and visit the historic and quaint city of Mostar.

Good to know
You can experience this destination at its very best from April through mid-June and mid-September through mid-October, as summers are extremely crowded. Booking well in advance is recommended, to ensure availability and reasonable pricing. Once you’re here, it’s easy to access most of the city on foot, since it’s so small. Driving a car isn’t really possible since no cars are allowed inside the walled city, but you can use taxis to take you anywhere outside the city for day trips and they are reasonably priced.
