The village welcomes its visitors with a grand, arched entrance, which leads into the ruins of the township amidst Rajasthan’s sand dunes. Entry restrictions
Owing to paranormal activities, visitors are strictly prohibited from staying in the village after 6pm. It’s best you time your visit well in time to enjoy everything at ease. Although, there are some supervised overnight tours that are organized and these restrictions do not apply there.
Choose the right time
While here, you’ll essentially be outdoors, in a desert. It’s best you avoid outings to Kuldhara Village in summers to ensure minimal exposure to the heat and illnesses. October to March are probably the best months to enjoy walking around and exploring.
Beware of hearsay
While all stories about Kuldhara Village are essentially hearsay, quite a few may even be exaggerated and untrue. You’re advised to take everything that the locals tell with a pinch of salt.
Watch out while exploring
While there are some permanent roads in the village, most of the area is just sand. Be careful of the wet sand and desert puddles while walking around, especially if you’re visiting during the monsoon months (August to October).
How to get there
The only and most feasible means of getting to Kuldhara Village is by a car. It is about 20 kilometres (12.5 miles) from Jaisalmer, which is about half an hour’s drive. You can easily hitch a private vehicle or hire a local taxi. If you choose to go in for the latter, you may experience a little bit of hesitation from locals, given the spooky reputation of the village.

Kuldhara Village is essentially a gated township, which is manned by a guard during day time. You’ll have to stop by and purchase tickets from here.
