Towering over the Kop van Zuid, this accommodation in Rotterdam is an irreplaceable part of the city and of the nation itself. The hotel was formerly the main office of the Holland America Line of cruise ships, which set sail from this point for over a century. It now serves as a premium hotel for all visitors, retaining much of the vintage furnishings and décor while combining it with modern effects since its inception in 1993. There are 72 rooms in total here, all retaining a theme of the same maritime luxury one would expect from being on an ocean liner. The Tower suites are the main attraction here. Composed of two formerly green towers, they offer a bedroom on the first level and a second floor with a sweeping view of the city. The Boardroom is an expansive room that was once the office of the board of directors, and still has many of the same accouterments, including a working fireplace. All rooms come equipped with free Wi-Fi, a Nespresso machine, and pillows in three different varieties of softness. The hotel also has a retro barbershop inside, along with two fine restaurants and an outdoor patio bar that frequent, including locals.

Known colloquially as “The Grande Dame”, the former mainstay of the Holland America Line of cruise ships has been permanently docked in the harbor of Rotterdam since 2010, and became a hotel in 2013 after being purchased by the same group that also operates the Hotel New York on the Wilhemina Pier a short distance away. The entire ship has been fully renovated to incorporate all of the modern amenities that one expects such as a cleaning service and free Wi-Fi along with a lounge area and private bathrooms in each of their hotel rooms on board. There are six total offerings regarding room types, beginning with the standard single room to the posh Superior room. The S.S. The kubuswoningen or Cube Houses are an iconic part of Rotterdam’s cityscape. Designed by Piet Blom, they are situated in the historic Oude Haven area and are the centerpiece of a larger complex that connects the harbor to the interior of the city as a pedestrian-friendly area. As a bonus, one of these houses has been made available for travelers to stay in. The Cube House is composed of three floors, with a patio space at the top that allows guests to take in the full scope of the city in a 360 degree manner. There are two bedrooms available that can accommodate 4 people. The house has free Wi-Fi, a full-fledged kitchen along with coffee and tea. the hosts were very thoughtful in providing kitchen amenities and an extra roll out mattress

wifi was good and you can watch tv or play a dvd if the weather is unkind

there was also a few cooking supplies for a light breakfast and tea which was appreciated as well
