The Berlin Philharmonic is one of the world's most famous orchestras and its building is equally renowned. For anyone interested in architecture, a walk around the outside of the building is a "must" when visiting Berlin. On Wednesdays at 13:00 there is a free concert in the foyer inside. The concert is not always with the Philharmonic Orchestra itself but nonetheless is a great way to see the building from inside and to enjoy some of Berlin's best musical ensembles on a budget.

Humboldt Forum's Rooftop Terrace is one of the best (and cheapest!) places to get a great view over Berlin's Museum Island and the city's rooftops. You need to book an online timeslot ticket but they are regularly available and tend not to book-out in advance. Open every day except for Tuesday, access is with an elevator.  

If you're planning to stay here, you should know that Neukölln is one of the best neighbourhoods in Berlin for bar hopping. Kaduka Bar, number 207 in the bar mile of Weserstraße, is a particularly cozy spot where people come as strangers and leave as friends.  

The Berlin Wall Memorial at Bernauer Straße is a must-visit place for anyone who's really interested in the Berlin Wall. Bernauer Straße (street) has 1.6 kilometres of outdoor exhibitions, plus two indoor documentation centres, all free to visit. There are hours of written, audio and video information on the Berlin Wall including stories of escapes, spying and divided families. Bernauer street is also host to Window of Remembrance, which remembers the people who died at the wall. For anyone visiting Berlin on holidays when museums are closed, the outdoor exhibitions at Bernauer Straße remain open.
