Christmas is a very special holiday for all of us, and Londoners are not an exception. That’s why the streets of London are decorated with dazzling lights and twinkling garlands a month before the feast. Visiting the winter markets is one of the most popular festive activities here, helping to get into that magical spirit of the season. The main city’s Christmas market is held in Hyde Park, which is the largest of the royal gardens in London. Being situated on 142 acres, it is a traditional British park with pigeons, gulls, squirrels, and walking paths under the shade of maple trees. Hyde Park is an enjoyable and quiet place, where you can spend your time with the family in a very pleasant way.

Dive into the winter fairytale!

Once the winter season comes, and the holidays are approaching, Hyde Park is transformed into a real fairy tale. Walking into this Christmas paradise, you can fully immerse yourself into the festive fun of the upcoming celebrations. Even the title of the market in Hyde Park just couldn’t be better - Winter Wonderland, and indeed, for a minute you will feel like Alice lost in a Christmas-style Wonderland.

Taste the goodies the market offers you!

The market is full of all kinds of goodies, starting with the traditional German bratwurst sausages (as the market is arranged in the traditional Bavarian style), that goes perfectly with the Bavarian beer, and ending with the English gingerbread cookies, that are literally made to be enjoyed with a glass of hot mulled wine. I also suggest that you try the Christmas roasted almonds, or you can choose something for your heart, or better to say for your stomach, from the great variety of sweets and chocolates that you will find in the market. In case you are looking for some Christmas presents, the Winter Wonderland is the right place for you. Here you can find an exclusive gift for your beloved ones, a lot of handmade items, and even antiques.

Have fun with the whole family!

The best part of the market has yet to come! So be ready to have the fun on the fairground rides, and fully immerse yourself into the spirit of holidays with the Christmas carols in the background. You can also take a ride on the Giant Observation Wheel or visit a show at one of the two circuses – ‘Christmas Circus’ and 'Cirque Berserk’ – from the family-friendly Zippos Circus. I suggest that you book tickets in advance, as the show is pretty amazing and there are a lot of people who are eager to see it. So don’t miss the chance to be among the lucky ones to admire it! When listing all the fun activities that you can do in Winter Wonderland, I just can’t miss mentioning the great ice rink, which is by the way the biggest outdoor rink in the UK! The magic comes when it is lit by more than hundreds of thousands of lights, creating the effect of a starry sky - a view which is worth seeing! And the last, but not the least, is the Magical Ice Kingdom, where you can admire the sculptures that are entirely made of ice.

Enjoy it because it’s for free!

The best part of the Winter Wonderland market is the fact that it has a free entrance! What can be better? You don’t need to pay a single penny to live this thrilling experience! But in case you want to visit one of the above-mentioned parts of the park, such as the Magical Ice Kingdom, the show at the circus, or if you want to take a ride on the Giant Observation Wheel, or skate on the ice rink, then for these pleasures you’ll have to pay. Prices range from 5 to 9.50 GBP (7.45 - 14.15 USD) for children, going all the way up to 7 to 14.50 GBP (10.42 to 21.59 USD) for teenagers and adults. But they are definitely worth the money! Winter Wonderland is opened from 10am until 10pm, until the 3rd of January 2016, excluding Christmas Day when the event is closed. So I wish you all a Merry Christmas, and in case you’re in London, do find time to feel the magic of the Winter Wonderland!
