Mazagan Beach and Golf Resort is a five-star resort in Morocco’s seaside town of El Jadida. It is named after the town’s former name and the UNESCO-listed Fortress of Mazagan in the heart of El Jadida. Often said to be one of the country’s most exclusive and luxurious accommodations, here’s what you can expect from a stay:
Luxurious trimmings around each corner
From the drive up to the front of the resort, passing verdant landscaped areas and a long, narrow lake filled with water birds, to the gardens, lobby, common areas, boutiques, and guest rooms, you’ll find plenty of attractive features and luxurious facets. Combining a beautiful blend of Moroccan features and Islamic designs with modern elegance, you’re sure to feel spoilt and pampered from the moment you set foot through the main door. Do note that heavy security systems are in place; you will need to have your luggage scanned, your smaller bags x-rayed, and pass through a metal detector with a possible body frisk.
In addition to the diverse rooms and suites within the main building, there are villas and smaller accommodations scattered around the secure and stylish complex. Whichever type of accommodation you choose, you will have full access to all the resort’s facilities and amenities.
All accommodation types at Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort are en suite with air-conditioning, a mini-bar, free Wi-Fi, and satellite TV.
Rooms for two people with a pool view start from 1,815 MAD (approximately 180 USD) per night. The price increases for an ocean-view room, with several types available up to the Deluxe Room Prime Ocean View, which costs around 3,000 MAD (approximately 300 USD) for a night’s stay.
Suites for two people, with a kitchenette, balcony, sea view, bathtub, separate seating area and lots of space can run to around 53,850 MAD (approximately 5,385 USD) per night. Rooms, suites, and villas are available for larger groups and families; you can check the full array of accommodations and prices on the official website.
Excellent on-site dining and drinking options
With eight restaurants and bars, plus the Alias Club, clubhouse, and outdoor dining options, you’ll never be short of choices when it comes to eating and drinking. Choose from traditional Moroccan fare, sushi, French gastronomy, Indian cuisine, and more tempting global dishes. Those staying in rooms or suites can enjoy a huge buffet breakfast each morning in the Olive restaurant.
Varied on-site leisure facilities
Chance your hand in the casino (free for guests to enter) and take it easy in the Jockey Club. Relax with a wide array of treatments in the blissful spa (extra charges apply), and unwind in a traditional Moroccan hammam.
The large inviting pool is free for all guests to enjoy, or you can head to the private stretch of beach to the rear of the resort. Free-to-use sun loungers and parasols are available at both, and there’s a separate kids’ pool with a waterfall. Drinks, light bites and nibbles are easy to order from each, with options including pizza, cocktails, BBQ, sandwiches, burgers, and more.
The 18-hole golf course is the longest in all of Morocco. Hotel guests can enjoy a discount on the green fees, though prices are still cheaper for Moroccan citizens. It costs 400 MAD (approximately 40 USD) for non-Moroccan guests of the resort to play nine holes, and 600 MAD (approximately 60 USD) for 18 holes.
Other facilities include children’s clubs, plenty of free parking, tennis courts, a selection of boutique stores, gift shops, and a mini market, and a modern fitness centre, complete with a yoga studio.
Great activities and excursions to enjoy
In addition to the hotel’s private beach, the nearby public beach offers plenty of peace and quiet with barely a soul in sight and low dunes to explore.
A large selection of outdoor activities are available, including horse riding, camel riding, hiking, cycling, paintball, and archery. Additional fees apply for most activities. Feeling sporty? Why not join in with a game of beach football or beach volleyball?
If you need more of an adrenaline rush, you can rent a jet ski, a buggy, or a quad bike, or perhaps sign up for some surfing lessons. The resort also has a 570-metre-long (1,870 ft) karting track!
Excursions can be arranged to nearby El Jadida, Oulidia, and Azzemour, as well as places farther afield such as Casablanca, Rabat, and Marrakech.
Things to do in El Jadida
You can easily explore nearby El Jadida under your own steam; it’s just seven kilometres (4.3 mi) from the resort. In addition to the old fortress, highlights include the old Portuguese cistern, museums, the old medina, and the bustling souk. It’s a charming town with a vibe rather unlike other places in Morocco. Enjoy the ultimate luxury in El Jadida with a stay at Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort.
