Antarangange, also known as Antara Gange or Antharagange, is a mountain situated in the Shathashrunga mountain range, in the state of Karnataka, India. The name of the mountain means “The Ganges from deep.” It is home to the famous Sri Kashi Vishweshwara temple, which is a site dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction. The temple’s pond receives a continuous flow of water from the mouth of Basava, a bull statue, which can be found within the premises of the temple. It is said that whoever drinks from this pond will have their diseases cured. There’s a ton of wonders waiting for you to discover in this Hindu temple. Antaragange is an ideal place for several kinds of activities, such as hiking, rock climbing, and spelunking. Let’s explore some of the things that you can do in this part of India.

Go rock climbing

People who love to perform physical activities as a hobby will be delighted by Antaragange. It features several hiking trails, boulders, and other rock formations that are suitable for rock climbing. There are also some spots where you can perform chimney climbing here, which is great for people who love challenging the mountains.

Visit Antaragange Caves

Aside from rock climbing, another popular thing to do is visiting Antaragange Caves. The caves are created by gaps between big boulders. Entering one of the ‘caves’ of Antarangange offers visitors a bit of a challenge since it is narrow and steep, which is great for thrill-seekers.

Be amazed by the local wildlife

There are several species of animals living in Antaragange, including naughty monkeys everywhere. You will either be fascinated by their behavior or get irritated when they start stealing your stuff! Oyalo Pizza Corner is the nearest place where you can eat at Antaragange. They have a small selection of vegetarian pizza, which is great if you’re on a vegetarian diet. But, even if you’re not a vegan, this pizzeria is still a great place to get your pizza cravings satisfied. Some of the variants of pizza that they offer are piri piri pizza, triple cheese, and smokey miso chunks. They also serve paneer and pasta, and they even have desserts on their menu. This is a great restaurant to dine in prior to your Antaragange adventure, or maybe a place where you can celebrate with your friends after successfully conquering the hiking spots!

How to get there

Antaragange is just about 60 kilometers (37 miles) from Bangalore, and there are several modes of transportation that you can use to get to the famed mountain. Check out the different means of transportation so you can decide which one to use to travel to Antaragange.

By bus

A bus typically takes around 60 to 90 minutes to get to Antaragange. Typically, the bus line used by tourists to get here is the Line 304 bus departing from Richmond Circle. You will get off at Bhodana Hosahalli and take a cab to Antaragange. You can also take the 204 from Corporation.

By train

Riding a train from Bangalore to Antaragange takes around 120 to 180 minutes. While it is the cheapest option, riding a train isn’t the most recommended way to get to Antaragange as the travel time takes a bit longer. However, if you want to have a train ride to be part of your journey, then you can take the 76505 or 76551 train from Bangalore Cant. You will alight at Kolar and from there, take a taxi to Antaragange.

By taxi or car

Though it costs a bit more than riding a bus or a train, it is definitely the more convenient transportation option from Bangalore to Antaragange. There are also several car-for-rent establishments in the city, so if you feel like driving on your own to Antaragange, then why not rent a car instead?
