Thailand does not just offer the beauty of tropical beaches and delicious food, but so much more, including the historic city of Ayutthaya. It is located north of Bangkok and is surrounded by three rivers which make it look like some sort of an islet isolated from the mainland, resulting in a unique site with its history well-preserved. Museums and dozens of temples are waiting for you to explore at the capital of the Kingdom of Siam. To optimize your holiday experience, book a place just a few minutes away from those excitements right here at Baan Baimai Boutique Room.
Why choose Baan Baimai Boutique Room
After thorough research, my choice went to Baan Baimai Boutique Room mostly for its location and the cozy ambiance it offers. Located in Phra Nakhon area, it is only a few steps away from one of Ayutthaya’s main road, Pa Thon. When I visited, the taxi driver didn’t have any problem finding this place just by following Google Map directions. So, you shouldn’t have any problems either!
The hotel is only a few meters away from the main road and as you drive in, you will notice the bright yellow building as you can see from the picture above. As this is a small and intimate hotel, you won’t find bell boys at the entrance. Instead, should you need help, there’s a security guard standing in front that would be happy to help if you need it.
Friendly staff and cozy ambiance
The cozy feeling exudes right from the start. Entering the premise doesn’t feel like walking into a hotel, instead, it’s just like visiting a family home. Trees and flowers surrounding the area make you momentarily forget how hot the Thai sun can be.
To get to the lobby, you need to walk past a few rooms first. The friendly staff will welcome you and offer you a drink. There’s everything you need to make tea or coffee for yourself in the lobby. They also provide a wide range of dishes on their menu in case you’re hungry. You can eat on the porch in the lobby area or in front of your room.
Next to the reception desk, you will notice hundreds of pins stuck to a map hanging on the wall. Those pins were posted by previous guests marking their hometown. Don’t forget to grab a pin and leave your mark on the map!
Comfortable room with good vibes
Each room has a double bed with nightstands and outlets on both sides. Considering the hotel’s size, you may worry about the noise from your neighbors. But as I stepped inside and closed the door, windows, and curtains, no outside noises bothered me and I had a great night’s sleep!
I suggest you sit on the porch in front of your room before it gets hot outside. Keep in mind that mosquitos and bugs are commonly found in tropical areas such as Ayutthaya. Baan Baimai Boutique Room provides fly killer lamps and electric fly swatters for each room, but it would be best if you also have your own anti-bug lotion or spray.

Great facilities for a boutique hotel
With the price I paid, I was surprised by both the quality and quantity of facilities Baan Baimai Boutique Room offers. The bathroom is big, complete with a shower booth, sink, and sitting closet. Fresh towels are provided every day. Each room also has AC, flat-screen TV with international channels, fridge, coffee table, and laptop-friendly workspace. On the coffee table, you will find some useful brochures about things to do and places to go in Ayutthaya. You can also ask at the receptionist desk for more details.
Meet the breakfast box
This could be one reason why you will love your stay here. Every day, you will get a box full of condiments, from bread, fruits, to yogurt, all you need to start your day before exploring the historical sites of Ayutthaya. The good thing is, this box is delivered to you in the evening of the day before, so you don’t have to wake up early just to catch the breakfast buffet. If this is not filling, you can always order more from the menu. If you want them to serve you early breakfast, please inform them the day before.
If you don’t feel like eating in, there are plenty of options available around the hotel. Just walk to the main street, and you will find a local eatery with a bunch of options, a pizzeria, and a coffee shop, which you can reach within a 5-minute walk. Hungry at night? The night market is only 10 minutes away! There’s another thing that awaits just 10 minutes away from this hotel. We’re going to discuss that next! Planning to explore the city on a tuk-tuk? Just request it at the reception desk to avoid the hassle of hailing one yourself on the street.
The beauty of Ayutthaya Historical Park
If you still have doubts about visiting Ayutthaya, just take a look at the picture above. Just a few minutes away surrounding Baan Baimai Boutique Room, there are tons of sights you can visit, from museums, wat, to local markets. It is a never-ending adventure!
It is safe to say that the whole islet is like a living museum. Yes, there are modern houses, but the vibe and the city layout hasn’t changed much. Walking around Ayutthaya takes you back to those years when this place was one of the main trading posts in Thailand. Don’t forget to bring a camera with you all the time!
A place to stay after an adventurous day
There is no doubt that someday, I will visit Ayutthaya again and Baan Baimai Boutique Room will be my first option for accommodation. So, if you’re looking for an authentic experience in Thailand, go to the lesser-visited Ayutthaya. And to ensure you a good night’s rest after each day of sightseeing, pick Baan Baimai Boutique Room.
