If you are familiar with Vietnam, you would know that drinking is not just a weekend thing here, but also a cultural and traditional thing. Almost every night, streets in Vietnam are flooded with beer drinkers sitting on plastic chairs with their family, friends, and colleagues accompanied by glasses of cold beer. The Vietnamese drinking culture offers you a great chance to explore life as a local while enjoying tasty beers and surrounding sights. Now, the question is: where should you go for this unique experience? This article will reveal not only one but five best cafes and bars in Da Nang where you can enjoy the night (or day) with a glass of cold beer in hand. Cheers!

7 Bridges

The view from 7 Bridges rooftop bar in Da Nang, Vietnam

Da Nang is known for its modern, beautiful bridges. After making some of them the background of your vacation selfie, there is no better way to capitalize the moment than by wrapping up the night with a nightcap overlooking Da Nang’s most popular bridge, The Dragon Bridge. This bridge has been a popular tourist attraction due to their Fire Show. Every weekend, the dragon breathes fire at exactly 9 pm!

Located by the waterfront, 7 Bridges does not just offer the best view of the Dragon Bridge, they also brew their own craft beers. Some of the best beers I have ever tasted are theirs. From pale ale to coconut porter, they have it all! You can also take some bottles with you. Better yet, if you don’t feel like going to 7 Bridges, they offer a delivery service as well.

Insider tip: This place is usually full on weekends. If you want to get the best seat for the Dragon Bridge’s Fire Show, do make a reservation a day before.

Bep Hen

Bep Hen Restaurant

Bep Hen is also mentioned in the article about Best Vietnamese Restaurant in Da Nang. Yes, this place is not technically a bar, but who says you cannot enjoy drinking at a restaurant? Since drinking is a part of Vietnamese culture, you will find people drinking at restaurants even during lunchtime. It is common to enjoy a steaming bowl of Pho with a can of cold beer.

Bep Hen offers a unique ambiance to enjoy your drinks compared to not just most bars and cafes, but also to any restaurant in general. Here, you get to feel like you’re being invited to a local’s house to enjoy a drink or two on their house porch. How could you refuse such an invitation?

Oasis Tapas Bar

Oasis Tapas Bar in Da Nang, Vietnam

Did you know that “tapas” is so special that they actually have their own verb for eating it in Spanish? So, when you see a tapas bar, expect a wide range of dishes.

For those who are unfamiliar with tapas, it is basically a variety of dishes served in small portions to accompany your drink. In many parts of Spain, bars legally have to serve free tapas for each drink you order. The more you drink, the more free tapas you will get.

I did not expect to find a good tapas bar in Vietnam, let alone a great one. But Oasis Tapas Bar did spoil my taste buds with explosive flavors. And the best part is: they have a wide selection of drinks as well! Do ask the bartender what their recommendations are.

Holy Pig

Holy Pig in Da Nang, Vietnam

As you can tell from its name, this place is known for its pork dishes. Try their pork ribs as they are amazing! Besides the Western-style dishes they serve, Holy Pig offers a great ambiance for a night of drinking with friends or your special someone.

Located in the middle of an apartment complex, you get to enjoy the quiet ambiance accompanied by a cool breeze. The restaurant’s setting itself gives you a homey feeling. Do come early if you want to get the best seat in the house: the big dinner sofas!

Editor’s Note: In late 2019, the restaurant has announced that they are moving to a new location, yet to be determined. The photo and information were taken from mid-2019 when they were still at the mentioned location below.

Salt Pub

Salt Pub in Da Nang/Hoi An, Vietnam

Technically located in Hoi An, Da Nang’s neighboring city, Salt Pub is only less than 10 minutes away from Holy Pig. This reason alone would make it a sin not to mention Salt Pub in this article!

The second, and probably the main reason, is their private beach area. Yes! Salt Pub provides its own beach area with loungers and parasols, right by the ocean. This area is only for Salt Pub customers, so you won’t have to deal with the crowd while enjoying a glass of fresh Sangria.

If you don’t want to get sandy toes, there are other seating options available in the garden area which is still close enough to enjoy the ocean view and the beach vibe. Food and drink? Plenty of options available as well!

The beer fest should not stop in Da Nang

Vietnamese drinking culture can be experienced in most cities in Vietnam, not just in Da Nang. So, whichever you choose to go, you would most likely find your favorite bar in no time. While in Ho Chi Minh City, do visit Pasteur Street Brewing Co. The craft beers here will blow your mind. I personally recommend you try some of their award-winning drinks!
