1. Descend into the caverns of Mammoth Cave

2. Learn to surf with the locals

Take a walk on the wild side and ride the waves with Margaret River’s local surfers. Margaret River Surf School offers classes for children and adults of all levels. Lessons are held at Redgate Beach which is just fifteen minutes from Margaret River town. You will be taught by accredited surf instructors with Surf Rescue and Senior First Aid training. 3. Taste wine at a world renowned winery
A trip to Margaret River wouldn’t be complete without a visit to a winery. Leeuwin Estate Winery is a family owned business located south of Margaret River town. Daily tastings at the Cellar Door provide guests with an inside look at the process of making wine from vine to bottle. While you’re there, have dinner at the restaurant which features seasonal menu items with a corresponding Leeuwin wine catalog. Wine can be enjoyed by the bottle or by the glass.
In addition to fine wine, Leeuwin Estate Winery also has a fine art gallery on the premises. The gallery, which will reopen in August 2017, features the “Art Series” wine label collection with paintings from famous artists.

4. Relax at Gnarabup Beach

Gnarabup Beach is located 10 minutes outside of Margaret River in the town of Prevelly. It is the longest beach in town and is a great place to mingle with locals. Take a stroll down the walking path, relax on the sand, or swim in the ocean. The waves at Gnarabup Beach are actually relatively calm. After some time on the beach, be sure to enjoy a coffee and a delicious snack at the beach cafe.

5. Go mountain biking
For those mountain biking enthusiasts, Margaret River is one of the prime locations. With a number of dirt and gravel mountain trails, there are options for bikers of all levels. If you are a more advanced biker, the trails include countless jumps, logs, and roll overs. Mountain biking is a wonderful opportunity to explore the lush, green, Australian vegetation while having fun in the mud. The Margaret River Off Road Cycling Association, or MRORCA will tell you which trails are best and can also help you design your own personal trail experience.

Located at the point where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet, Cape Leeuwin is the tallest lighthouse in Australia. This makes it the perfect place to spot dolphins and whales. The chances of seeing a whale increase during the months of May to September due to migration. Since its construction in 1985, Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse is still in operation. Visitors who come to the lighthouse have the option of following the self guided tour before taking the stairs to the top.
