If you’re looking for somewhere a bit different to stay when visiting Slovakia’s capital city of Bratislava, Botel Pressburg is ideal. Moored at the edge of the Danube River and just a short walk away from the city’s main attractions, fall asleep in the spacious and comfortable cabins and wake up to great views of one of Europe’s most famous rivers.

The well-appointed cabins have top-notch amenities, and the boat has some great onboard facilities. Enjoy boat life on the river … without the risk of motion sickness!

Appealing prices for attractive cabins

The recently renovated Botel Pressburg has 31 cabins in total, spread over three floors. There is an elevator if you don’t want to haul your luggage up and down the stairs.

There are two types of cabin; standard and economy. Whilst economy cabins are only available with two single beds, albeit pushed next to each other, people who opt for a stay in the standard cabins have a choice between two single beds or one large double bed.

Given how nice the cabins are, along with the great location and good facilities on the boat, the prices are a steal! A night in an economy cabin costs around 32 EUR (approximately 36 USD), whilst a standard cabin is around 40 EUR (approximately 45 USD) per night.

Comfortable beds and ample storage space

With soft mattresses, plump pillows, and warm blankets, you should have no problems falling asleep onboard Botel Pressburg. If staying in a room with single beds, even though the beds may be alongside each other, you will each have an individual single duvet – no fighting over the covers in the night! You’ll find an additional fleece in the cupboard in case you feel chilly during the night, although the duvets are that warm that you probably won’t need it. Matching throws and cushions add to the inviting feel.

There is a large sliding-door wardrobe with lots of space to hang and fold your clothes. A few coat hangers are provided. If you need even more storage space you can keep things in the two bedside cabinets. On either side of the beds, there is also an individually-operated bedside lamp on top of each cabinet.

Other great cabin amenities for a relaxing stay

The spacious cabins each have a private bathroom with a hot-water shower. The lovely powerful showers might make you late in starting your day if you’re not careful! You’ll find a large dispenser filled with a combined shampoo and body wash inside the shower, and a dispenser of creamy hand soap next to the sink. The toiletries used onboard Botel Pressburg are perhaps the nicest-smelling and softest free toiletries I’ve ever had the pleasure of using. Really, they are that nice!

There are integrated cupboards and drawers underneath a large desk / dresser, and you can pull back the curtains from across the large windows to sit at your comfy table and chairs to admire the views. Some cabins have views of the river, whilst others look out towards the city.

Turn on the TV at least once during your stay, preferably soon after you arrive, even if you have no intention of actually watching anything. When you turn on the set you can watch a short but delightful presentation about Bratislava, showcasing the city’s highlights; it might give you some added inspiration for your sightseeing!

You’ll find an electronic safe inside the wardrobe for added peace of mind, and a mini refrigerator is provided for added convenience. Large radiators and carpeted floors ensure that you don’t feel cold at all when inside your lovely cabins.

Standard and economy cabins have the same floor space and facilities; it appears that the only major differences are the views and the décor. Whilst standard rooms have dark wood panelling and wooden furnishings, the economy rooms have light grey furnishings and walls.

Onboard restaurant and other facilities

Botel Pressburg has a large restaurant on the upper level, with seating for around 70 guests. The menu features mainly Slovakian dishes, with a focus on traditional local cuisine … although they serve Czech beer! The grilled sheep’s cheese with pear and walnut is particularly recommended. Other dishes include duck with fried potato and beetroot, fish sticks with pepper sauce, salmon risotto, and chicken with mushrooms and noodles.

Although not open at the time of stay, there is also a sun terrace on the upper deck, which I imagine would be beautiful on a hot summer’s day.

If you’re visiting on business, Botel Pressburg has a meeting room that can accommodate up to 16 delegates. It is equipped with modern technology, such as a projector and TV.

Free Wi-Fi internet access is available across all parts of the boat.
