Brookleigh Health and Spa is set in the beautiful Swan Valley, one of Western Australia’s most popular tourism areas, with its dozens of vineyards and artisan breweries, which you can visit on a number of organised tasting tours. The Swan Valley is about a thirty-minute drive from the Western Australian capital of Perth but you can also get there by train, which is a fast, efficient and cheap way to travel around the area. Perth is Australia’s sunniest city and summer days are long, dry and often very hot, making this the perfect retreat. Brookleigh Spa and retreat is located in an exclusive property in the heart of the countryside, designed like a mock French chateau in charming landscaped gardens and is quite a unique destination here.

On the drive up to the spa, you come upon a building that looks like it should really be in the Loire Valley in France and it is quite a visual surprise. The estate is actually huge and part of it is a very upmarket equestrian venue with an impressive indoor school, stables, and a full cross country course! Dotted around the fields are the most beautiful eventing horses and a few adorable long-legged foals.

Accommodation at Brookleigh

The chateau at Brookleigh Spa retreat

Brookleigh is quite an exclusive destination with a small number of luxury accommodation options making for a very special personal stay. It feels like quite an indulgence to stay at this luxury chateau accommodation in the heart of the Swan Valley.

Within the main chateau, there are two apartments each with individual bedrooms a spacious sitting room and kitchen areas. There is the Lakeside Apartment Accommodation and the Courtyard Apartment Accommodation. Both accommodation options offer a wonderful base from which to discover the many nearby attractions. The Lakeside Apartment has a separate bedroom with a huge chandelier in the vaulted ceiling of the Chateau’s turret, a huge walk-in wardrobe and private access to the lovely pool and charming patio overlooking the lake. This suite is often favoured by brides to be as there is lots of space to get ready for the big day. The sitting room has a big screen TV and reverse cycle air conditioning — important in this hot dry climate.

The Courtyard Apartment has the option of adding an additional bedroom, to make it a two bedroom accommodation. Access to the second bedroom is from the pool area. A new three bedroom cottage in a slightly different part of the estate is currently being refitted and will be ready soon.

The Health & Spa at Brookleigh is designed to help you relax and improve your life through a combination of spa treatments and massage, personal training, wellness consultations, meditation, pilates, bushwalks and hikes, cycling and delicious healthy food.

A personalised approach is adopted to health and well-being based on your individual goals and current fitness abilities. Brookleigh, although only 30 minutes from the city of Perth is an idyllic getaway retreat, with easy access to the Perth hills. You can take a challenging walk up Bells Hill in a true bushwalk setting, take a pilates class or one-on-one personal training session, or venture into the valley on a heart-pumping cycling trip where Upper Swan’s best lookout awaits as your reward at the top.

Health and Spa at Brookleigh offers one day, three day, or five-day retreats. During this time you can undergo a basic fitness assessment, complemented by personal training sessions, pilates or circuit training, healthy food and an individualized fitness program to take with you when you leave. Spa treatments and consultations that include nutrition are available as well.

Delicious, healthy cuisine with many seasonal ingredients sourced locally in the Swan Valley is served either in your apartment or at Brookleigh estate’s own Stewart Restaurant. I tried the roast duck Asian salad and the breakfast on the patio was pretty good, too!

Weddings at Brookleigh

Brookleigh facilities are available for corporate functions and it is also a licensed wedding venue. Brookleigh offers more than most wedding venues with its extensive grounds adjoining the Swan River, exuding a unique style and character. The architecture, facilities and landscaped gardens offer both couples and guests beautiful surroundings and the team at Stewarts Restaurant can handle all the catering needs if you want them to.

There are three picturesque locations for marriage ceremonies on the premises and you are guaranteed to have the estate all to yourself. The grounds are so pretty that photographs are bound to be beautiful. Adjoining the Swan River, the picturesque property with its post-and-rail fenced paddocks, stunning manicured and landscaped gardens with water features, and its timber and limestone architecturally designed buildings is like a little piece of Europe in the middle of Western Australia!

Brookleigh offers one, three or five-day spa packages and is an ideal location to rest, relax, recharge and focus on your health and fitness in a picturesque Western Australian countryside setting. Alternatively you can use the exclusive luxury accommodation as a base to explore the other delights of the Swan Valley.
