G'day mate! Are you ready to have some adventures down under? And if the answer to that is yes (like I’m hoping it is), what better place to start than good ol’ Sydney - it’s home of the famous Sydney Opera House, spectacular views from above from Sydney Tower, and some of the most beautiful beaches you’ll ever lay eyes on. Well, I’m sure that you have been locking down things to do and perfecting your Sydney itinerary, but you may have overlooked places to stay in all your excitement. But don’t you fret, I have got a list of great places for you to stay in - and all while saving you your hard earned money, because we all know you would rather spend that on your actual adventures. So get on with it and pick a place so you can make the perfect vacation!
The first hotel on this list is Greenacre Hotel. Located in Bankstown, this hotel is just under 4 miles (7 km) from the Bankstown Airport and 7 miles (11 km) from Sydney Airport. There are a variety of room styles here including options like a family room with two king beds or a single room with a twin bed. The property has been recently remodeled and has an onsite Sports Bar and recreational facility.
Wake Up! Sydney Central is in the heart of Sydney’s “backpacking hub” and thus is perfect for travelers looking for a great place to crash. It’s conveniently surrounded by a variety of nightlife destinations, including bars, nightclubs, and restaurants. The hotel is just a five minute walk to Chinatown, a fifteen minute walk to Darling Harbour, and a 20 minute walk to Circular Quay from which you can hop onto public transportation to the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge.
28 Hotel is right in the heart of Sydney, and perfect for locals and tourists alike! It is just a 15 minute stroll to Surry Hills, which is filled with fun bars and great restaurants. Each room at the 28 Hotel has a private bathroom with complimentary toiletries, an iPod, and a flat screen TV.
The Royal Hotel is the ideal stay for beach lovers, as it’s less than a ten minute walk to Coogee Beach. It is also just a two minute walk from the Randwick Shopping Center, and ten minute drive from Bondi Beach. The guest rooms at the Royal Hotel are all equipped with flat screen TVs, tea and coffee making facilities, and complimentary toiletries.
Sydney Central Inn is located in the heritage building in the center of Sydney Central Business District. The rooms range from dormitory style rooms for individual travelers to private rooms for larger parties. Sydney Central rooms all come with flat screen TVs and refrigerators, and the Inn has an onsite restaurant and bar. The Inn is also surrounded by a plethora of restaurants, bars, and a vibrant nightlife scene. It is also only a five minute walk to Chinatown, a fifteen minute walk to Darling Harbour, and ten minute drive or thirty minute walk to the Sydney Opera House.
Last but certainly not least is the ValueSuites at Green Square. These are located next to the Green Square train station, which is just one stop from Central Station (Sydney Central Business District). The ValueSuites are located a bit further out from many of Sydney’s iconic sights, so much travel requires a car or use of public transportation. Centennial Parklands are a fifteen minute drive away, Capital Theater is a ten minute drive, and Darling Harbour is a twenty minute drive away.
The Blues Point Hotel is located in North Sydney and is just a fifteen minute walk from some of Sydney’s iconic sites - Harbour Bridge, Luna Park, and the Sydney Opera House. The hotel also has an onsite restaurant, bar, and gaming room. There are a variety of room types, so guests with both small parties (i.e. individuals) and large parties (i.e. families and groups) will be comfortably accommodated.

The Outback Lodge Manly isn’t considered ~manly~ because of its ~machoness~ (although it is great for guys and gals alike), but rather because of its proximity to Manly Beach and Manly Wharf (don’t ask me how these places got their names). But the Outback is just a five minute walk from Manly Beach and ten minute walk from Manly Wharf. From the Manly Wharf you can grab a ferry and take a thirty minute ride to Sydney city and Taronga Zoo. If you don’t want to venture as far, there are plenty of restaurants, cafes, and bars right around the hotel too. The rooms at the Outback each come with free WiFi and a kitchenette making your stay that much easier.
