Nestled on the southwestern bank of the Potomac River, Arlington is a modern, densely populated enclave that’s home to famous military landmarks such as the Pentagon and the Arlington National Cemetery. Arlington is also known as one of the most walkable cities in the entire country, thanks to its comprehensive public transport system and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure. With more than 49 miles (78.9 km) of walking and biking trails, you’re definitely going to need a break if you want to explore the entire city on foot. Here are 10 cafes in Arlington to take a break from all the walking.

1. Blümen Café

Order one of their cookies or deliciously rich cakes to complement your drink. With its casual, laidback vibes and reasonably priced treats, it’s definitely a great place to relax.

2. Mocha Café & Pastry

Run by a mother-daughter team hailing from Iran, Mocha Café & Pastry is a quaint little corner that serves authentic Middle Eastern-inspired fare. They also offer a variety of drinks, including unique flavors like the saffron shake and honey cinnamon latte (that tastes as good as it sounds!). Definitely drop by this cafe if you’re craving a taste of Persian street food in the Virginian suburbs.

Have a taste of Café du Monde’s famous beignets from New Orleans at Bayou.
