The Courtyard by Marriott, located on Beltline Road/Highway 67 in Decatur, Alabama, is perfectly situated to accommodate many visitors who come to this north Alabama town for work, sports contests or festivals. The Marriott brand has a reputation for comfort and luxury, and this property is a prime example. It is convenient to Highway 20 where many of Decatur’s major industries are lined up along the Tennessee River, and it is one of the closest hotels to Wilson Morgan Park where numerous softball and baseball tournaments take place.

Quiet but convenient location

The Courtyard by Marriott in Decatur is accessed from a major thoroughfare in this small city, affectionately referred to as River City, yet it is far enough from the road to be quiet and relaxing for sleep. It primarily serves business guests because of its proximity to large industrial plants such as ULA, Daikin, 3M and Marshall Space Flight Center, but it is also completely booked when sports tournaments come to Decatur. The Alabama Jubilee Hot Air Balloon Classic held on Memorial Day Weekend and the Spirit of America Festival on the 4th of July bring in thousands of guests to Decatur, many of whom choose Courtyard by Marriott for lodging.

A variety of room configurations

Two types of guest rooms are a king guest room with a sofa bed and a double queen room. A king suite has a sofa bed in the bedroom but also has a wall separating it from the living room which has another sofa bed and a wet bar. Some of the rooms have balconies that look out on the courtyard. In the spring and summer, the courtyard is filled with colorful flowers. The patio on the courtyard is great for relaxing and sitting around the firepit when the weather permits.

All rooms and suites have flatscreen TVs, irons, ironing boards, hair dryers, mini-refrigerators, coffeemakers and microwaves.

Spacious bathrooms and special amenities

Bathrooms are large with a sink and vanity separated from the toilet and tub/shower combination. Paul Mitchell products and a personal mirror are welcome touches. Each room comes with complimentary WiFi and free self-parking. Rooms are equipped for hearing-impaired guests with mattresses that vibrate if the fire alarm is activated.

Marriott has a strict standard for cleanliness and consistency in its hotels, and the decor is updated frequently to maintain a modern, attractive and appealing appearance in its rooms and common areas.

No smoking and no pets, except service animals, are allowed in the guest rooms.

A market with snacks and beverages for purchase is located near the reception desk, and a printing center is very handy for printing airline boarding passes.

A convenient meeting room

The meeting room at the Courtyard holds about 60 people seated in rows or slightly fewer with tables. It is an intimate place for wedding receptions with windows that look onto the courtyard. In-house catering for meetings is available through The Bistro and can be arranged by a member of the hotel staff.

Stay fit while traveling

An indoor pool and a fitness room with treadmills, stair steppers and weights are available for guests 24 hours a day and provide some healthy ways to work off the stresses of the day. The pool is a nice feature for families traveling with children and a fun extra that can be utilized no matter what season it might be. Since guests are becoming increasingly interested in having more exercise equipment, a future renovation will expand the current fitness room.

Exceptional dining available at The Bistro

One of this hotel’s best features is the presence of great food on site. In the lobby, cooked-to-order breakfasts and dinners are available for guests to purchase in The Bistro. Plus, alcoholic beverages are served in the late afternoon and evening. Guests may call from their rooms to request a to-go order and take it back to their rooms or enjoy it in the attractive dining area.

Breakfast choices range from simple to elaborate and from savory to sweet. Vanilla nut oatmeal comes with bananas and candied fruit while a breakfast burrito is served with salsa and mashed avocado. Eggs any style can be ordered with a choice of breakfast meats, potatoes and toast, and the very popular avocado toast comes with arugula, roasted tomatoes and a hard-boiled egg. The lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes are outstanding as is the banana bread French toast. A happy surprise is the selection of Starbucks drinks in The Bistro.

Dinner choices vary but might include a burger, a chicken BLT, chicken pot pie or a vegetable pasta dish. The Bistro also offers a full bar.

After a long day of work or play, it is a very welcome feature to have a nice meal without driving or leaving the comfort of the hotel.

Dinner and bar items are purchased separately from the room rates, but guests may choose to include breakfast in their room rate when they make their reservation.

Location puts you near Decatur's attractions and shopping

This Courtyard by Marriott property is perfect for taking advantage of Decatur’s growing number of attractions and restaurants. Practically adjoining the parking lot is Logan’s Roadhouse, a chain steakhouse, and less than a mile away, you’ll find other chain eateries such as O'Charley’s, Applebee’s, Panda Express, Krispy Kreme Donuts, Olive Garden and Red Lobster.

A twelve-screen movie theater is located inside the Decatur Mall, and many retail businesses are also within a mile or two if you want to shop while you’re in town.

If you brought your boat in order to take advantage of the great bass and crappie fishing in the Tennessee River, the closest public boat launch is a few miles away at Ingalls Harbor.
