The State of Washington is well known for being home to the guitarist Jimi Hendrix, the band Nirvana and Starbucks Coffee, but what’s less known is its amazing geography, including National Parks and National Reserves. One of these heavenly places is the Olympic National Park, which occupies the majority of the vast Olympic Peninsula, west of Seattle. It is there that one can find the mesmerizing Lake Quinault and the even more mesmerizing Lake Quinault Lodge, where time seems to have stopped a long time ago.

We handpicked these listings carefully, considering (wherever possible) Superhost status, recent guest reviews, location, accommodation type, prices, availability of dates, decor, and amenities. The image galleries get refreshed with the latest updates regularly. They were last updated on April 04, 2024.

A perfectly located home away from home

Located next to the majestic 14 km2 (5.5 sq mi) Lake Quinault, the Lodge, which has itself an area of 1.3 ha (3.1 acres), is one of this places where time seems to have stopped a long time ago. It is built in a rustic style perfectly embedded into the woodland environment of cedars and hemlocks that surrounds it. It was built some 90 years ago and completed in only 53 days, but don’t let that fact fool you: the building is as robust as the trees that one can see in the outside or through the Lodge’s windows. The Lodge has 91 rooms, divided into main lodge rooms, lakeside rooms, fireplace rooms, boathouse rooms and the Beverly Suite.

Great for complete families, including their pets! (from USD 152)

The 8 boathouse rooms were built in 1923 as an annex to the Lodge’s main building and are the best option for families traveling with their pets, since they are the only pet-friendly rooms in the lodge. They are decorated in a rustic style with wooden walls and floor and feature views to the lake, the surrounding forest and all the animals living in it: squirrels, chipmunks and all kinds of birds. They are completely furnished and include a private bathroom and one or two queen beds, upon request. The Beverly Suite is the Lodge’s only suite and the most exclusive place to sleep the resort offers. Located at the top of the Boathouse building, the Suite offers a stunning 360-degree panoramic to the lake and the forest in its two bedrooms: one equipped with a king bed and the other one with a double bed. The Suite has also got some kitchen facilities (microwave, refrigerator, coffee-maker, sink…) as well as a sofa, chairs, a walk-in shower and a huge TV.

Cater some of the best food in the region in a historic dining room

One of the main assets the Lodge offers to its guests is the food served in the Roosevelt Dining Room. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in this imposing, wooden-crafted room daily and neither of the services will leave you indifferent. Make sure you order a fulfilling breakfast (the Quinault Benedict and the Quinault Breakfast Sandwich are top notch options), since you’ll need plenty of energy for the coming day. There’s basically two options when it comes to order lunch: to try the local fish (Halibut or Smoked Salmon) or to go for a juicy piece of meat (Pork, Chicken or Beef). There is also, of course, a choice for vegetarian people, as well as a variety of entries to make your lunch at the Lodge a perfect one.

When the Sun goes down and the light of the sky is gone, the lights of the Lodge are switched on and it is then that you will have this sensation that I mentioned at the beginning of the article: this of being stuck in time, because after dusk the Lodge, and specially the Roosevelt Dining Room, seems to remember its past black-tie dinners and even though you might not be surrounded by the cream of the society anymore, the solid yet warm wooden walls, the superb stone fireplaces and the quality of the food and service will make you feel almost like President Roosevelt himself, who, as the name implies, had dinner in this same room way back in the fall of 1937. Since the Dining Room overlooks the lake, the stars - a myriad of them are visible due to the low light pollution - and the Moon, reflected in the lake’s surface, are visible during dinner time: a delightful show!

A romantic spot for couples, a superb approach to nature for families… there’s an option for everyone!

The Lake Quinault Lodge, along with its romantic setting, is the perfect accommodation option for couples on honeymoon or celebrating their anniversary, but it is also a great place to go with your family and your pets (provided you respect the pet-friendly area), or even for solo travelers who love nature and quiet spaces. You’ll have the opportunity to see animals you’d never seen before and some of the tallest trees you’ll ever get to see: even the sunlight is different here! The delights of the Lake Quinault Lodge and the surrounding rainforest won’t be missed by anyone.

A privileged, historic place surrounded by a fairy-tale-like rainforest

This unique place perfectly combines stunning natural landscapes, a historic and most remarkable building, top-notch food and a 5-star service that will make you want to come here at least once more. Besides, the Lodge is open all year round, so you can visit it in the summertime, when the weather’s best to hike around the lake, and in the wintertime, when the coziness of the Roosevelt Dining Room and the snow falling outside the Lodge will make you feel as though you were inside of an Agatha Christie book. There are a lot of reasons why you might want to come this privileged spot; there is none not to swing by if you’re staying in the state of Washington, The Evergreen State.
