Set in the docks of Southampton, the 1872 Grand Café is the ideal way to spend an afternoon. Whether you are celebrating or just treating yourself, the Grand Café offers a superb afternoon tea. Perfect for those who want to soak up a traditional pastime, or those who just want to indulge.

Step into first class glamour

The Grand Cafe

Inside what once was used by first class passengers of the Titanic, the Grand Café houses a magnificent interior. Combining British style and elaborate décor, the interior is oozing glamour and sophistication. The beautiful, almost theatrical chairs will definitely have you contemplating if one will go unnoticed under your arm.

With a relaxed atmosphere and incredibly friendly staff, you really do feel like a first class guest!

Dainty sandwiches and delicate treats

Sandwiches

A three tier cake stand filled with beautiful treats is presented and placed in front of you. Although you will want to dive in, remember, this is afternoon tea – you need to be subtle. Just kidding!

An assortment of delicate finger sandwiches awaits you on the bottom tier. With a variety of traditional English fillings including smoked salmon and egg mayonnaise you will be smitten by how delicious they are. For those who have allergen requirements, needs can be met prior to 48 hours’ notice.

Traditional, English Scones

English Scones

Your next tier is an English beauty. The scone. Freshly baked every morning, the scones are to die for. Warm and comforting with jam and clotted cream to accompany, you will really feel like you are being spoilt. For two people, you are presented with four scones. This will vary depending on the amount of you who are dining together.

Sweet treats and petits fours

Cupcakes and sweet treats

Up to this point, you will already be amazed by the delicate taste of your afternoon tea. But now you have reached the top tier abundant with cakes and the chef’s choice of petit fours. My personal favourite are the cupcakes. They are simply amazing and taste fantastic and have a somewhat butterscotch flavour. Being so beautifully presented, you may not want to eat them. Just to add a little health to this plate of goodness, a few strawberries are carefully dotted around.

Join me on a tour and discover the hidden historical gems of Wessex.
