The Marriott Shoals Hotel and Spa, located at 10 Hightower Place in Florence, AL, is a 4-Diamond property that ranks as the only full-service hotel within a 60-mile radius. Guests could conceivably come in, have a valet attendant park their car and then spend several days here without needing or wanting to leave. With its excellent fitness facilities, top-rated spa, two renowned restaurants, 30,000 square feet of meeting space, and nightly live music showcasing well-known Muscle Shoals talent, a guest could feel that they were on an extraordinary vacation throughout an entire stay.

Swampers bar and grill

When you walk through the doors, your eyes will immediately be drawn to the towering atrium, the splashing fountain, and gleaming wood and glass fixtures. All staff members are quick to greet you and direct you to your desired location. Several pieces of Robin Wade’s amazing furniture are used throughout. These are made from trees that have been sustainably harvested, debarked by hand, and then stacked to dry for several years before it is then fashioned as naturally as possible into a usable piece that showcases the beauty of natural wood. When you take the elevator downstairs to the fitness room, arcade, sauna and indoor pool, you will see the whimsical art on the walls painted by Betty Sue Matthews, a self-taught folk artist who began with house paint like Grandma Moses. Beginning in the early evening, you will also be treated to music of local talent playing in the Swampers Bar and Grill. The Marriott Shoals has made a commitment to area musicians to feature them nightly.

All rooms feature balconies overlooking the large pool and the Tennessee River in the distance. Concierge level guestrooms come with a buffet breakfast, complimentary beverages, snacks, and a nightly turn-down service. All rooms have cable television with premium channels and free wi-fi.

A couple of great dining options

Enjoy the music memorabilia lining the walls as well as the food in the Swampers Bar and Grill. You’ll find numerous displays of awards, autographed guitars and hit records heralding the prestige that has come to The Shoals by way of FAME Recording Studios and Muscle Shoals Sound Studio. The name itself is derived from the group of studio musicians called The Swampers who formed Muscle Shoals Sound Studio. Hundreds of hit records from the 1960’s to the present have been produced within a short drive of this hotel.

If you are looking for an elegant dining venue for celebrating a special occasion, consider 360 Grille, adjacent to the Marriott Shoals. Open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday, 360 Grille is the only revolving restaurant in Alabama. Plan your visit for sunset to take advantage of the gorgeous views of Florence and the river, but when the sun goes down, the exquisite cuisine will complete your experience.
