Fully equipped kitchen is a huge plus
Possibly the most helpful feature in a Towneplace Suites room is the presence of a fully equipped kitchen. Each contains a refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, dishwasher, pots and pans, dishes, glassware, cutlery, and dish-cleaning supplies. There is even a pantry area for storing groceries. Such a kitchen makes it very convenient for traveling families or for those who want to stay multiple days.
The heated indoor pool is a plus for those who visit year-round, and there’s a fitness room for working out and exercising away the stress of the day. Many enjoy the firepits on the patio that contribute to a relaxing time with friends or family after a busy day at OWA.
Before COVID-19, TownePlace Suites offered a full, hot breakfast. Many of the same items are still offered but they are pre-packaged. Guests can expect to find fruit, muffins, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, cereal, oatmeal, coffee and juices.
Restaurants inside OWA
A variety of restaurants are inside the OWA complex suiting a range of culinary preferences and budgets. Among them are the Trattoria Pizza and Italian, Groovy Goat, Sushi Co., Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen, and Lucy’s Retired Surfers Bar & Restaurant.
Shops at OWA
The C'est Le Vin Wine Bar and Shop is one of the newest additions to OWA, but you will also want to visit Parker & Company ladies’ boutique, the Spice and Tea Exchange, Alvin’s Island, and Body Tune Plus. At Fairhope Soap Company, you can choose from an enticing array of handmade soaps and create your own body scrub.
OWA's amusement park
During non-peak season, the large amusement park at OWA operates on weekends. Besides a number of thrill rides, there are family friendly rides and kiddie rides for the youngest visitors. Many young folks will enjoy the competitions of the arcade. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, and Free Non-Rider Passes are issued for those who want to watch and stroll without getting on the rides. That is especially helpful for parents with young children.
Theaters at OWA
Musical variety shows, magic shows or movies are special features of OWA’s offerings. Brandon Styles presents comedy and magic acts, while Legends in Concert at the OWA Theater offers shows consisting of impersonators of well-known music greats such as Elton John and Rod Stewart. Tina Turner, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley impersonators have been there for past shows.
For free entertainment, guests may enjoy a nightly fountain show at the lake with colorful lights and music.
Satisfy a craving for sweets
Between meals, OWA has a number of options for those craving something sweet. Cinnabon always produces enticing smells along with their amazing cinnamon rolls. Hershey’s Ice Cream Parlor and Sweet Tooth provide choices galore. You’ll want to walk the entire grounds to justify the calories.
Fresh seafood from nearby Gulf of Mexico
The Gulf of Mexico, which is only a few miles from OWA, is an endless source of fresh seafood year-round. Several of OWA’s restaurants take advantage of that abundance, plus there are other seafood restaurants in Foley for indulging in oysters, shrimp, and fish galore.
