Finding good, reasonably priced accommodation in the heart of the action is always a bonus when you travel, and with the Potts Point Holiday Inn, you get exactly that. Situated in the heart of Sydney’s Kings Cross, the Holiday Inn is a great place to base yourself when visiting Sydney’s red light and entertainment districts. Surrounded by popular street cafes, boutique shopping and vibrant bars, the Potts Point Holiday Inn is conveniently located for exploring in and around the infamous Golden Mile.

Facilities and creature comforts

This 4-star hotel provides comfortable accommodation in standard or deluxe rooms and their large, spacious suites deliver fabulous views of the Sydney Harbour, the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. With all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay, the hotel offers high speed Internet, complimentary newspapers and same day laundry and dry-cleaning services. Guests also have access to the health and fitness centre which is located on-site and is open 24-hours a day.

Rooms come with Foxtel TV channels, air-conditioning and even a choice of soft or firm pillows. Having the perfect pillow can make all the difference to getting a good night’s sleep, so it’s these little touches that make for a pleasant stay.

The hotel is also positioned handy to all major public transport. Taxi ranks are located right outside of the hotel, with the Kings Cross Train Station a short two-minute walk directly across the road. The hotel also has on-site parking available for a daily fee.

Sirocco Restaurant and Bar

Sirocco Restaurant and Bar is located next to the hotel lobby. The restaurant serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner daily and is open from 6.30 am to 11 pm. Treat yourself to a delicious meal from the Mediterranean-inspired menu or from their selection of seasonal dishes.

Sirocco Restaurant and Bar is also a great spot to meet up with friends or family for cold drinks at the bar. Better still, you can grab a coffee or cocktail and sit outside in the sheltered courtyard, idly people watching as they go about their business.

Surrounded by nightlife

The Holiday Inn and surrounds

There are so many clubs, pubs and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, you are spoilt for choice. The Kings Cross Hotel next to the Holiday Inn provides a variety of experiences under the one roof. At street level, you will find a relaxed pub and outdoor bar, while the second-floor balcony restaurant serves up modern fare and pub classics. There is also a lively club level, intimate theatre and a Cuban-styled rooftop bar.

I highly recommend Caffe Roma for an evening meal. The restaurant is is located on Kellett Street in a beautiful old terrace building, with an interior lovingly maintained in a style characteristic of the era. Family owned for over thirty years, the restaurant is a local institution that serves up authentic Italian food using quality ingredients and fresh produce.

The colloquial "Cross"

Of course, Sydney’s Kings Cross is renown for its seedier side. A lot has been done in recent years to clean up the neighbourhood’s image and reputation. That said, the area with its rich history of show girls and strip clubs still delivers plenty of these ‘glitzier’ establishments amongst the tree-lines streets and neon lights.
