Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains and taking advantage of breathtaking views, Valhalla Resort Hotel in Helen, Georgia provides an opulent stay for its guests with well-appointed rooms, golf course, a spa and exceptional dining. Valhalla is a perfect place to just come and relax, but the tiny town of Helen, Georgia offers an amazing array of attractions for those who want to venture off of the property.

A setting with mountain views and glimpses of nature and changing seasons

Aerial view of Valhalla

The setting for Valhalla Resort Hotel was chosen to take maximum advantage of hilltop views overlooking thousands of acres (hectares) of trees with the beauty of changing seasons and flowering plants on full display. It feels as if it is far away from everything, when in fact, it is a short drive to shops, a state park, recreational activities, restaurants, festivals and the Chattahoochee River.

Guest rooms far exceed the offerings of standard hotels

In addition to luxury linens on the beds, the 25 chambers in the inn offer balconies, fireplaces and rainfall spa showers. Guests will also find a smart TV, plush robes, slippers and nightly turn down service. The decor has been carefully selected with exceptional beauty and includes original works of art.

Separate bungalows or a villa can also be reserved

If you are traveling with family members or a group of friends who want more time together, bungalows and a private villa are just down the hill from the inn. The bungalows sleep up to four guests, while the villa will sleep eight guests. The villa is actually a three-bedroom, three-bath home with a double garage, two balconies and two living areas. It features a full kitchen and a washer and dryer.

A spa designed for ultimate pampering

Whether you’re in the mood for a massage, a facial, a treatment for your hands or feet or just some time in the eucalyptus steam room, Valhalla’s Solasta Spa is at your service. A fitness center and salon services are also available to resort guests. Since weddings are very popular at Valhalla, hair, makeup, manicures and pedicures for the bride and her attendants can also be arranged.

A golf course to test your skills

The 18-hole Innsbruck Golf Club combines a variety of physically challenging obstacles to be conquered with stunning scenery. The on-site Golf Academy provides lessons with a PGA professional for beginners or advanced players, individually or in groups. To play 18 holes Monday through Friday, the price is 45 USD. On Saturday and Sunday, the price is 55 USD.

The Staghorn Grill, next door to the clubhouse, is ready to provide light meals and cool beverages when your round is over.

Elegant dining on the lobby level

The Caledonia Dining Room, a few steps from the lobby and reception area, is an elegant place to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner seven days a week. For a truly special occasion, consider booking the Abbey Wine Cellar for a group of up to 12 guests. It is a very intimate place for a special occasion.

If you want something more casual but with a spectacular view, go up to the fourth floor and follow the signs to the Sky Bar. It is open for lunch and dinner Wednesday through Saturday.

Take a dip in the pool when temperatures are warm

Valhalla Resort has a beautiful pool with plenty of lounge chairs for relaxing after a swim. The cabana bar is an extra touch of luxury for guests. As with all of Valhalla’s outdoor amenities, the views of nature are wonderful, so peaceful and relaxing.

Attractions in nearby Helen

Alpine Helen and its surrounding White County have much to offer for entertainment, recreation, education and dining. Going along with the Bavarian theme, there are several restaurants in Helen specializing in German cuisine, such as Bodensee Restaurant and Hofer’s Bakery and Cafe. Mully’s Nacoochee Grill has fabulous live music, and the grilled trout is outstanding.

If you are interested in Appalachian crafts, be sure to visit the Folk Pottery Museum, The Gourd Place, and browse the shops in the main downtown area.

For an array of recreational activities, try Unicoi State Park or hike to Anna Ruby Falls.

If you are visiting with children, they are sure to enjoy Babyland General Hospital in nearby Cleveland, Georgia, home of the Cabbage Patch Kids. The brand new Georgia Mountain Coaster, across from Cafe International right on Main Street in Helen, is perfect for thrill-seekers.

There are seven wineries scattered throughout White County. Yonah Mountain Vineyard and Winery is probably the most unique with its wine cave, astounding tasting room and breath-taking surroundings.

Be as busy or as relaxed as you want to be

When you’re a guest at Valhalla Resort Hotel, you can choose exactly the kind of stay you want. If it’s complete relaxation you’re seeking, then the scenery, the amenities and the spa will suit you perfectly. If it’s plenty of action you crave, the golf course, the swimming pool and all of the attractions in and around Helen will fill the bill very nicely.

Oktoberfest and Christmas are especially full of fun in Helen, but the spring and summer with tubing and fishing on the Chattahoochee River are every bit as alluring. Whatever the season, Valhalla is a place for extra pampering and elegance.
