Waimanalo is a small, windward community close to the eastern end of Oahu Island. The town nestles between Waimanalo Bay and the Ko’oloa Mountain Range. Waimanalo and the Waimanalo Bay Beach Park offer beautiful white sand beaches, overlooking clear turquoise waters where snorkeling virtually guarantees sightings of the Hawaiian green sea turtle and tropical fish. The area has a number of small eateries, offering a taste of the local cuisine and using produce from the family-owned farms in the area. An incongruous sight can be seen in front of the only strip mall in Waimanalo in the form of a statue of former Japanese resident Akebono Taro. Taro was raised in Waimanalo and achieved international fame for achieving the highest rank in sumo wrestling, the “Yokozuna.” While visiting this charming and sleepy spot, stay in comfort in one of the best Vrbo accommodations in Waimanalo, Hawaii.
