2. Beachside cottage for six (from USD 409)
With an amazing view of the water from the upper deck, this beachside cottage in the city’s Sea Isle community is an amazing find for those who can’t get enough of the bay. In this Galveston vacation rental, there are three beds across two bedrooms and an extra sofa bed and air mattress, so you and your whole family are guaranteed a comfortable place to sleep.
Those who enjoy fishing will love this area, as there is access to the fishing pier. Additionally, guests will also have access to a pool and a tennis court in the summer for a fee.
The city proper where you’ll find some of the best things to do in Galveston is also just a 25-minute drive away.
More information about the property:
- Supplies such as paper towels, soap, dishwasher soap, and coffee filters are provided by the host, in enough quantities to last three to four days.
- Although laundry essentials or grilling fuel are not supplied, there might be some leftovers from previous guests. Make sure to check!

3. Classic balcony suite for four guests in Grand Manor Mansion (from USD 89)
As someone who enjoys learning more about history, one of my favorite stay options has to be this southern tropical mansion that has been around since 1905, full of memorabilia. Grand Manor gives four guests access to a large luxury balcony suite best for travelers who are out in Texas for a sweet escape from the city. The classic interiors and midcentury touches bring character to the place, including an impressive clawfoot tub.
Other amenities include a swanky and equipped kitchen with marble countertops, indoor fireplace, Wifi, cable TV, air conditioning, bathroom essentials, and free parking on the premises. There is also a lovely patio and balcony guests can spend early mornings and late nights with coffee or a glass of wine in hand.
Indeed, Grand Manor is perfect for small families, groups of friends, and couples who wish to experience lux living away from their busy city lives at home. But you won’t be too far from the action either, as the home is only two blocks from various harbor side clubs and dining outlets. The beach is also a short walk away, as is the famous downtown Galveston Strand. In fact, the best part about this property is that you won’t need transportation to get to most places in the downtown area. However, should you wish to go further, the city’s free trolley shuttle service is at the end of the street.

4. Bright beach bungalow (from USD 175)
This 1950s property in Galveston is perfect for family holidays near the beach. With two bedrooms and enough sleeping space for up to six guests, everyone in your party will surely have a comfortable stay. What’s more, no matter when you plan your vacation, you’re sure to have an enjoyable stay thanks to the centralized air conditioning and heating.
Each room in the house is bright and airy, with white furniture, tall ceilings, and plenty of windows. One of my favorite features in this property is that the original architectural finishes have been left in, lending a unique feel to the rental. Other amenities include free parking, a fully equipped kitchen, a private entrance, and Wifi access. Make the most of your stay here by walking to the beach, which is easily reachable on foot.

5. Private room in a historic mansion (from USD 125)
Just a short seven-block walk from Pleasure Pier, this tastefully decorated suite is a dreamy couples’ getaway in Galveston. The artwork lining the walls is a great touch that I personally love. The one-bedroom unit is in the historic Charles W. Adams Mansion, which was built in the mid-19th century. The room features antique decor and furniture in keeping with the mansion’s overall appearance, and the king-size bed is on a four-poster frame. The suite also comes with a mini-fridge and a coffee machine.
Guests of this elegant rental will have access to other home amenities, such as the spacious balcony, backyard with patio, library, dining area, and the pink ladies’ parlor. Spend your time walking through the rose garden or take the provided beach towels and head to the shore.

6. Spacious relaxation for the entire family (from USD 247)
This Galveston beach house rental boasts a whopping 1,000-square-foot (92.9-square-metre) deck that offers views of the beach from all angles. If you’d like to take a closer look, the private beach is only a block away. Inside, the home has three bedrooms and five beds that can host large parties. Imagine playing games of catch or hide and seek here. This is the perfect place for your kids to have a summertime vacation they’ll never forget. In terms of amenities, you’ll have perks such as free Wifi, air conditioning, and a dedicated workspace, among others.
It’s a little tricky to find, but the owners are nice and provide renters with detailed instructions on how to get to the vacation rental, along with tips on what things to bring so you can maximise the rental’s resources. The details will be emailed to you at 4pm on the day of your arrival.

8. Sweet pineapple-themed house (from USD 33)
Who lives in a pineapple Airbnb house next to the sea? Now, you can! This house, decked out in cute, quirky decor such as fish cushions, a clawfoot tub, and pineapple paintings, will be a delight for fans of pop art and bright colours. Guests will also have access to amenities such as a shared patio and shared Wifi. Four towels and linens are also provided, however, you’ll have to bring your own washcloths. Additionally, do note that while smoking is allowed outside the property, it is strictly prohibited inside.
Equally fun is its location. Back in the home, a firm mattress and a futon for kids ensure everyone gets a good night’s sleep after a long day.

10. Furniture store converted into a home (from USD 332)
This eclectic listing is a surreal, spacious experience. It’s a converted furniture store from back in 1928, and it’s close to many live music spots and the event space for biker’s weekend. Bikers have rented this space so that they can be close to the festivities. Quirky decorations and a modern, artistic vibe make this a rental that I would love to stay in myself. The large space downstairs is great for events, with a pool table, a bar, and a movie projector.
The home sleeps up to 16 people if the first floor is utilized. The four beds upstairs can sleep seven.

This custom brick Galveston beach house rental via Airbnb is adorably named Sandy Toes, which is accurate too because it’s only a block away from the beach. There are also plenty of restaurants close by, so you can spend some time trying new cuisine.

18. Adventurous boat life (85 USD)
This Airbnb boat may not have the glitz and glamour of upscale sailboat listings, but the experience will make it a fun stay with your family. Fall asleep to the rhythm of the gently rocking seas, and watch cruises, boats, and fishermen pass across your view of the bay in the day. Dolphins often follow these boats so its good to watch out for them too. The Airbnb boat sleeps 4 in 3 onboard sleeping areas. It’s near amenities and a pool so you can relax and enjoy your endless, seaside summer days here.
Lively, lovely Galveston

You could be a family looking for some theme parks to enjoy or a nice family resort to stay in, a few friends on a holiday shopping spree, going solo while checking out a popular festival, or even a couple looking for some seaside privacy, Galveston has options for all of you.
