Casinos, on-the-spot weddings and strip clubs – these are the first things that come to our minds when we hear the name Las Vegas. Well, this place is not only famous for its casinos, parties and gambling; there are a lot more activities that you can do – as per your interests and requirements in the sunny sandy city of Las Vegas. There is more to this city than we really think there is… Did you know there are at least a thousand homeless people living in underground tunnels in Las Vegas! Creepy! Read on to find out all the curious things you can enjoy while visiting this city on the state of Nevada! (The list of the sight-seeing spots are in no particular order.)

1. Rock Climbing at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

This place comes with a huge recommendation from a lot of people who have been to Las Vegas. The Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is located about 24 km (15 miles approx.) from Las Vegas. The area showcases huge red rock formations, sandstone peaks and walls that reach about 3000 feet in height. This is what makes this place a sought-after rock climbing and hiking destination. You could also drive up the beautiful 20 km (approx. 13 mile) distance to get a fantastic view of the Red Rock Canyon. 2. Visit to Hoover dam

Remember the legendary Superman movie, where the hero in the cape (yes Superman) saves the people when a huge dam bursts and causes chaos? It is THIS Hoover Dam! So, to relive the memories of that iconic scene, you might want to go on a cruise on Lake Mead adjoining the Hoover Dam and enjoy a pleasant day near this impressive reservoir.

3. Lost City Museum

The Lost City Museum is a short drive from Las Vegas and lies on the way to Valley of Fire, so you could club these two spots when you plan your visit. The entry fee to the museum costs USD 5 per person is open every day of the week. This museum houses cultural heritage artefacts and also natural heritage of the region of Nevada.

4. Cruise over Lake Mead

When full, the Lake Mead reservoir becomes the largest reservoir in the US in terms of capacity. This lake is on the Colorado River about 24 miles southeast to the city of Las Vegas. This lake was formed by the Hoover Dam and is said to be 112 miles long.

5. Valley of Fire

The Valley of Fire State Park is one of the oldest state parks in USA. You will find lot of red sandstone formations that seem to look like “fire” and hence the name. This place is said to be a sacred Indian area and a photographer’s dream destination. So don’t forget your camera! The landscape is too picturesque to be missed is what people suggest.

6. Casinos

Ok, so these are what Las Vegas is renowned for, and how could we afford to miss them in an itinerary? So, take a warm shower, dress your best and head to any casino and spin some dice! The casino hotels namely Bellagio, Venetian are quite popular, although there are quite a few cheaper ones as well and you could as well head there to earn some quick bucks with your lady luck! 7. Sky jump at Stratosphere

With room rates from as low as USD 32 (taxes excluded), an indoor skydiving experience, and a casino what more can we ask for during a vacation at Las Vegas? The Stratosphere tower is said to be the tallest standing observation tower in the US. This tower is known for a few spine chilling activities – they say, you could create history by jumping off the Stratosphere tower at Sky Jump, at a height of 829 feet! These shows are available worldwide but when in Las Vegas; it becomes another ritual to attend this fantastic and fascinating show. The words are again in French and mean “Circus of the Sun”. A theatre group which performs various themed shows with the essence of circus acts. The movie/song Saturday night fever didn’t become a smash hit for no reason. Saturday night is an experience to be consumed when you are in Las Vegas. 14. Fremont Street

As the name suggests, it is a street in Las Vegas and the most popular one at that. Why? It initially housed many casinos. Several movies were shot in this Fremont Street; now it has been converted to a gaming destination so it draws all the more people to the spot, making it even more desirable. There are shows held in this street, lots of sound and light in play. Also catch up at the Neon Museum which houses most of the old hotel neon signs. Again a not to miss category sight-seeing spot!

15. Gondola Rides at The Venetian

Venice in America? Yes, you could experience the Gondola rides that Venice is famous for, right here in Las Vegas at The Venetian, Resort Hotel and Casino. Why you must take this one rather than the original Gondola at Venice – cost is one reason… It costs around USD 16 per hour at the Venetian. It is a much more pleasant experience to ride on a Gondola in the Venetian rather than at Venice itself!

16. Neon Museum

Las Vegas is synonymous with something other than casinos, yes, the NEON signs. These vintage neon signboards are now treasured in a museum called the Neon Museum. You have one-hour day as well as night tours in the museum, available all through the week. Is there anyone on this planet who cannot recognise this name – David Copperfield?? He is the world’s greatest illusionist and an amazing one at that. You can actually get a chance to experience his illusions in person at one of his shows in Las Vegas. Those conducted by MGM Grand offer tickets at prices starting from USD 71.37, what are you waiting for???

19. Luxor – Exhibitions
