Greece has one of the longest histories of all countries in the world; people have continuously inhabited this land since 270000 BC. But once you’re there, it’s easy to see why no one wants to leave. Its landscapes of glittering oceans, cathedral-like caves, mountains, and forests naturally inspired the former Empire’s myths and epics. 4. Historical house in Syros (from USD 151)
Here’s one for history buffs! Ermoupolis is the main trading port of Syros, another island in the Cyclades. It used to be Greece’s commercial and industrial centre, but had declined by the late 19th century. Today, its economy is picking up greatly because of its progress in the service industry.
This is unsurprising though, as it has quite a few lovely, stays including this recommendation. This property was built in a 19th-century neoclassical style, and it’s located right in the heart of Ermoupolis. The furnishings are mostly antique. Pieces are either inherited or carefully handpicked, so be careful while handling things! The distressed textures and old-school intricate details add to the historical-vintage vibe it has going on. This HomeAway is all sorts of romantic and homely; look at those floral lamps and motifs on the ceiling! It’s as though they’ve leapt right out of an Austen novel. The checkerboard floors and interesting colour combinations might strongly remind you of Alice in Wonderland.
Villa Maria is a beautifully restored villa whose owners take very good care of… the whole decor that takes you back to another time period. The space it covers is large and comfortable, with three bathrooms and several bedrooms, while also providing the traveller with all the necessities he/she needs… Angeliki A.
If you think that this charming, historical house is the one for you, don’t miss out and get it booked!

5. Charming rustic cottage in Crete (from USD 169)
Crete, Greece’s largest island, is a foodie’s paradise. It has a rich ranges of cheeses, fried snails, and a variety of Cretan brandy. It’s a region that holds tightly onto its traditions, more so than mainland Greece. So where better to experience Crete than at this rustic rental, Kolokitha cottage? And how better to experience good food than when dining al fresco? Enjoy the fresh delicacies you bring back from local markets and grocers on the private sea terrace. Inside, the cottages are well kept and decorated. They have a sea-view window and a quaint nautical theme.
These studio cottages are right on the beach of Plaka. It had amazing beach views and only takes less than 15 steps to be on the water. It has the BEST location in Plaka and Elounda. The unit we stayed was very clean, had welcome necessities like bottled water, coffee, juice, beer and a few munchies. The location definitely requires a rental car, as it is about 1 hour away from Heraklion, but well worth the drive and the local atmosphere of Plaka and Elounda. All restaurants and shops are walking distance. I would definitely recommend this lovely cottage to anyone visiting Crete. GC
