Osaka is a city that’s located in the Kansai region of Japan. It is also the capital of the Osaka Prefecture and the second-largest city in Japan. It served as a center for the rice trade during the Edo period and is situated at the mouth of the Yodo River on Osaka Bay. Osaka is known for its gorgeous landscape that highlights Japan’s development of urban living.
Osaka is home to two areas, the downtown and uptown areas of Kita and Minami, which mean “north and "south” respectively, although Minami is mostly situated in the central district of Osaka. Kita is where the Osaka Station City is located and it also serves as a major business and retail hub, as well as being the home to a large variety of shopping arcades.
Tourists may find many of Osaka’s landscapes to be familiar because much of it is commonly featured in photographs of Osaka’s skyline. Minami, on the other hand, is home to a handful of districts including arts and fashion culture-oriented areas such as Amerikamura and Horie.
West Osaka serves as the major tourist destination with it being home to many of Osaka’s attractions that include Kyocera Dome, Universal Studios Japan and the Tempozan Harbour Village. On the east side of Osaka, you’ll find the Osaka Castle Park, Osaka Business Park and the hub Kyōbashi Station.
This city of Japan has history that dates back to the 5th century, and canals, bridges and even buildings from the 16th century can still be found here. With so much history and culture, this city still manages to amazingly exude the modern Japanese urban lifestyle. It can get a little tough when deciding on your ideal accommodation in this city. Fret not – we’ve prepared the perfect guide for you!
