“Michitekuru Kokoro no Shuku Kichimu” is a great inn located in Chiba prefecture’s Kamogawa city, right next to JR Sotobo Line’s Awa-Kominato Station. It fascinates guests with a 35-meter high panorama hot spring which overlooks the ocean. Kominato in the southern part of Boso Peninsula is a mystical town known as the birth place of the founder of Nichiren Buddhist sect. The inn is located next to Tanjoji Temple and its name originates from the good dreams that believers are said to have here. For hot spring lovers this place is really easy to visit, as there is a direct shuttle bus from Tokyo Station for just 1000 JPY!

Kichimu inn rises next to the tranquil Kominato Bay, about 1 hour and a half from Tokyo. It’s a pleasant hot spring and accommodation facility where you can enjoy the sound of the waves.
Kominato Onsen hot spring was developed in 2003 together with Kamogawa Onsen. The water here is colorless, odorless and rich in bicarbonates which have a positive effect for treating skin diseases and exhaustion. It’s also good for healing allergies. Your skin will feel great after you take a bath in this water!
The inn’s pride is the 35-meter high panorama hot spring pool which overlooks the tranquil Uchiura Bay and gives you the feeling that you’re soaking in the sea. Both the top floor and the one beneath it have hot spring pools. There are various indoor baths, including a stone bath, a cypress tree bath and another one with hot tub, so you can enjoy the different views from every pool.
The open-air bath offers a splendid view towards the sunset in the sea. Kichimu is included in Japan’s list of Top 100 inns where you can watch a beautiful sunset. You can enjoy your hot spring vacation to the fullest with all the great sights visible in the course of one day: the fresh blue sea in the morning, the red sky during sunset, the stars in the evening and the jet black sea lit only by small fishermen’s boats.
The pools have different sizes which make them suitable for the entire family. This inn is great for family gatherings and celebrations.

Kichimu’s dinner is always delicious and popular, but I strongly recommend also the morning buffet which includes plenty of local fish and vegetables!
Even though Kamogawa city is on the sea, it’s famous also for producing rice. The buffet style breakfast has dried jack mackerel fish, simmered seafood, squid sashimi and other sea delicacies, original dishes with local Boso chicken and many different vegetables. You will struggle to try everything at one go! The chef will prepare egg dishes and clam miso soup in front of you, so be sure to try them fresh and hot.
From 6 am you can freely participate in the Buddhist sermon that takes place in Tanjoji Temple, just across Kichimu inn. Take the self-made map offered at the inn and explore the mystical town where Nichiren sect’s founder was born. This will open your appetite for the delicious breakfast which will charge you with new energy.
A 1000 JPY bus goes directly to Kichimu!
Since October 2014 a shuttle bus connects Tokyo and Hamamatsucho Stations with Kichimu Inn for just 1000 JPY! You can make a reservation through the inn and buy a round-trip ticket for the amazing price of 2000 JPY! Please check the link in the memo for more information about this shuttle bus.
