5. Rang Mahal
Contributed by Trip101 Local Expert, Pallavi Mandar Jadhav
This is one of the most popular Indian restaurants in the city and has been in operation for well over 20 years. I remember visiting with my family growing up and it still holds a sense of familiarity. The evenings are beautiful, with soft live music to entertain the guests as they tuck into delicious curries. If you are unsure what to order, the Sunday buffet brunch is a great way to get a taste of everything. It serves everything from popular street food dishes to rich desserts slow-cooked in clarified butter.
If you happen to be in Bangkok over New Year’s, Rang Mahal throws a popular Bollywood-themed event.
6. Haoma

This exceptional venue puts a stunning spin on Indian cuisine like never before. Paying homage to his Indian roots, Chef Deepanker Khosla reimagines Indian cuisine using the freshest Thai ingredients. This imaginative Michelin-starred restaurant is centered around an urban farm concept in the heart of Bangkok, where vegetables, fish, and herbs are grown on the premises. What cannot be produced is sourced from a community farm in Chiang Mai and sustainable and ethical local suppliers.
I find it impressive that, in an attempt to be a full-circle eco farm, Haoma conserves 100,000 liters (26,417 gallons) of rainwater to grow fish. What the fish excretes enriches the water and is used to sprinkle the Aquaponic farm. The restaurant’s food and soil waste create organic plant supplements used on the farm, thus ensuring an organic dining experience.
Moreover, Haoma allows visitors to see and feel the food they will eventually consume with a tour of their urban farm. I hope I get to try it one day.
7. Indus
Contributed by Trip101 Local Expert, Pallavi Mandar Jadhav
Set amongst a beautiful garden, Indus is housed in a former villa. What has made it popular over the years is that the outdoor area gives a vibe of being at your friend’s house. It is completely laidback and chill, with soft string lights creating an intimate space. I have always loved the garden setting and much prefer it to dining indoors. If you are dropping by with friends, the bar is also a great option for drinks and food.
When it opened, Indus was the place for the best Bollywood-themed parties. Since then, the restaurant has turned around to set itself as a premier Indian restaurant that has found a place for itself in the Michelin Guide.
8. Charcoal Tandoor Grill & Mixology
Editor's Note: Photo taken from the establishment's official social account
This contemporary Indian restaurant serves succulent grilled meats cooked to perfection in traditional tandoors, or clay urns. I find that it’s an excellent spot for brunch as well as dinner and drinks with friends. The drinks menu includes carefully crafted cocktails that help enhance the flavor of the food. The cocktails are unique to Charcoal Tandoor Grill & Mixology and feature a mix of Thai and Indian ingredients.
The venue aims to offer a taste of age-old recipes in a modern setting and to introduce diners to rich Indian dishes that are a step away from the regular curries.

9. Masala Art

Located in prime Thong Lor, I recommend this popular Indian fine dining restaurant in Bangkok. The restaurant aims to offer art, culture, and cuisine to patrons dining at the venue. The chef pays attention to detail and does a splendid job on the extensive menu that offers a contemporary spin to traditional Mughlai cuisine.
Masala Art has consistently been positively reviewed and won multiple awards for its delicious menu. The restaurant can comfortably seat 75 guests and offers both indoor and outdoor seating.
