The Hill Country is not only one of the best places to go on a vacation in Texas but also the second most popular retirement destination in the U.S., after Florida. Unique for its combination of Spanish and German influences in food, beer, and architecture, the Hill Country has created a distinctive culture, separate from the state’s southern and southwestern influences.

What better way to understand and experience the culture, food and geography of the Hill Country than by staying with locals, who can help you understand the area and guide you on your quest in the Hill Country. Check out the best Airbnb vacation rentals in and around the Hill Country, Texas.

Events to look out for in Hill Country, Texas:

  • If you're eager to witness this year's rare eclipse, make sure to book your spot in Smithsonian Journeys' Solar Eclipse 2024: A Journey from Austin to the Texas Hill Country. This adventure will take you through the outskirts of Austin and Texas Hill Country over five days from April 5 to April 9, with the eclipse happening on April 8. I'm particularly excited about this, as I love walking around to truly soak in the atmosphere of a destination.
  • Watch Blanco bloom lavender at this year's Blanco Lavender Festival, to be held from June 7 to 9. Visit the iconic Lavender Market and browse exquisite lavender-related products, sway to live music, and explore the lovely Hill Country Lavender farm. You'll also be able to enjoy a selection of beer and wine from the city's own brewing companies.
  • Halloween enthusiasts are in for a treat if they visit Boerne on October 26, 2024. Boerne Boo!, which is hosted every year close to Halloween, is offering family-friendly fun with games, bounce houses, food, music, and, of course, trick-or-treating. Remember to don your best costume before you arrive, as visitors of all ages can win exciting prizes. Even costumed pets are welcome and have their own category!
  • Texas Arts & Crafts Fair, to be organized from November 1 to November 3, 2024, is calling artists and art lovers to participate in this creative extravaganza. Admire gorgeous art pieces, enjoy mouthwatering food and drinks, and attend concerts and events—you won't have a moment left to spare.

We handpicked these listings carefully, considering (wherever possible) Superhost status, recent guest reviews, location, accommodation type, prices, availability of dates, decor, and amenities. The image galleries get refreshed with the latest updates regularly. They were last updated on April 04, 2024.

4. Brand new luxurious house with pool; Fredericksburg (from USD 270)

If you are searching for a secluded property for a romantic getaway, your hunt ends here. This gorgeous house is surrounded by 15-ac (6.07-ha) of land in an exclusive gated community on the outskirts of Fredericksburg. The town is only five minutes away by car, so you can easily visit whenever you wish.

Couples can begin their day with a steaming cup of coffee on the front deck as they watch the sunrise. The rest of the day could be spent exploring the property or lounging by the outdoor pool or hot tub. The extensive deck includes loungers and an outdoor dining table.

Do note that the plunge pool can be heated for an additional fee of 75 USD per day, provided the host is informed 48 hours before check-in. However, if the temperature drops below 50 degrees Fahrenheit for two consecutive days, it might be difficult to heat it up.

The living room is uniquely designed with a sliding glass wall on either side, which is one of my favorite features as it allows me to enjoy the stunning view of the rugged landscape at all times. Post-dinner, you can cozy up by the outdoor firepit for stargazing. A more romantic alternative is a romantic soak in the oversized bathtub.
