Norway, like its sibling Nordic countries, exudes an aura of mystique and grandeur, likely thanks to its majestic natural beauty. I sometimes find myself marveling at the sublime beauty of the fjords. Massive glaciers carved the many gorges and inlets over millions of years, as well as leaving impressive crags and waterfalls. Foremost among these are Geirangerfjord and Nærøyfjord, making up the West Norwegian Fjords UNESCO World Heritage Site. Culture and outdoor enthusiasts can discover more natural and cultural world heritage sites thanks to some of the best tours in Norway. Along the way, don’t miss out on breathtaking phenomena like the Aurora Borealis and fascinating cuisine rooted in Viking traditions. For your trip, be sure to pick out an extraordinary place to stay from these best Airbnb vacation rentals in Norway.

Urnes Stave Church: Dating as far back as the 12th century, Urnes Stave Church is a hallmark of native Scandinavian architectural styles. It is situated in the village of Urnes, about 5 hours away from Bergen.

Accommodation summary
1. A scenic elevated farm cabin in Bjørnafjorden (from USD 184)
Best for: Couples, nature lovers, budget travelers
Despite calling itself a microhouse, I’m confident this stylish, cozy rental will meet your expectations. Its gorgeous, elevated design includes a terrace and floor-to-ceiling glass panels, letting you take in the scenery whenever you wish. Air-conditioning and heating systems make the property a fantastic year-round option. It’s also available for extended stays and comes equipped with its own kitchenette and laundry machines. To while away the time, you can also admire the neighboring sculpture garden, ask the host if you can interact with the animals, or perhaps even help around the farm.

2. Charming cottage overlooking the fjord in Kinn (from USD 274)
Best for: Couples, nature lovers, group stays
This cute cottage may have been built in 1999, but it somehow offers an authentic vintage rustic vibe that I find hard to resist. Perhaps it’s because of the amazing location, as it is a farm cottage that’s also right next to the sea. You’ll enjoy a warm, lived-in ambiance, as the home’s items and accouterments are made of wool and leather sourced from the farm. You can even buy souvenirs from the farm shop with a discount during your stay.
While idyllic, the cottage comes equipped with conveniences like a well-equipped kitchen and a laundry machine, letting you self-cater as well as keep your clothes clean and fresh.

3. Mountain glamping in Forde (from USD 464)
Best for: Nature lovers, couples, pet parents
This ultimate glamping experience up in the mountains of stunning Forde is a fine, fine choice for couples. This lodging resembles a bird box and the bedroom opens right into the spectacular view of the mountain ranges of Blegja and Fordefjord. Imagine being snuggled up with your loved one waking up to one of the most remarkable views in existence.
We reckon there’s no better way to spend your romantic getaway in Norway. Be sure to bring everything you’d need before going to the Birdbox since the closest grocery store is still in the town proper. It’s also handy to bring everything you need since I wouldn’t want to ever leave the rental after getting here if I were you!

4. Mirrored glass cabin in Akershus (from USD 342)
Best for: Couples, group stays, nature lovers
One of the most stunning places to stay in Norway you’ll find in the woods of Akershus. This spectacular two-bedroom home hosted by Jeremy and Erle is what dreams are made of. Couples or groups of up to four people are cozily accommodated in this mirrored glass cabin. Being away from all the noise is exactly what this place promises, and I’m pretty sure you can’t beat the views either.
If you need some much-needed quiet retreat, this place will transform your trip to Norway. Keep in mind that it isn’t the most budget-friendly of the bunch, so if you wish to splurge this one time, this place is truly worth the money.

Best for: Couples, outdoor enthusiasts, families with infants
It is a relatively old, but charming summer house that was remodeled in 2017. The house is fully furnished, and I think it would be a great place for a romantic getaway. It is located at the edge of a beautiful forest, with the front porch facing a charming island in the foreground.
If all you care about is peace, serenity, and breathtaking views, and you will be visiting Norway as a small group, then this will be a highly befitting option for you.

6. Comfy cottage in a quiet and charming fish harbor on Gimsoy Island (from USD 453)
Best for: Couples, budget travelers, pet parents
It is a one-bed, one-bath Norway cabin rental located in a small fishing harbor on Gimsoy Island, inhabited by about 200 locales. It has a fully equipped kitchen, a bedroom with a double bed, a living room, and a private bathroom. The living room features a cable TV, a comfortable sofa, and a table. With the lush outdoors that surround the rental, I think it would be a great spot to holiday with your pooch.
Then there is also a back porch ideal for relaxing in the evening while you watch the sunset or the phenomenal Northern Lights.

7. Modern mountain cabin in Skammestein (from USD 379)
Best for: Families with kids, group stays, nature lovers, pet parents
For a family or group of six planning to spend their time in Skammestein, this spacious cabin is an excellent choice. The place hosted by Christian comes with three bedrooms and is a modern cabin-type with high ceilings and tall windows. Outside, the living space looks unassuming with its black exterior and modest patio, but the interior boasts a contemporary kitchen with a large dining area and a cozy living room.
From the cabin, there is a boundless view of the mountains. Now is a good a time as any to stay here, but I’ll let you in on a secret—the winter truly transforms this transcendent place into another world.

8. Authentic wooden home with a beautiful view of the Hardanger fjord (from USD 298)
Best for: Nature lovers, group trips
This Norwegian vacation rental is an old summer house located on the island Tysnes. The house has a beautiful sea view with the impressive Kvinnherad mountains in the back and small islands in front. It was renovated in 2017 and while old floors and walls were kept, a new modern kitchen, beds, and bathroom were installed to make a perfect combination of charm and comfort. There are heated floors in the bathroom and the hall and electric ovens and a fire burner to keep the house warm in winter, so I’m pretty sure you’ll be warm and cozy through the whole stay.
Outside, there is a beautiful stone terrasse with a fireplace, a barbecue, and a large dining table. At the seaside 50 m (164.04 ft) below the house, there is a floating dock and a small aluminum boat that can be used for fishing and visiting the small islands. The local store at Onarheim is 3 km (1.86 mi) from the house if you want to do some shopping. Here, you’ll also find a fitness center and a small cafe.
On the island of Tysnes, you’ll find a few restaurants and beautiful mountainous hiking areas. It’s not far from Bergen (a 1.5-hour drive), Rosendal, and Bømlo, and the famous Trolltunga rock formation is 2.5 hours away.

9. Cottage with great panoramic views in Stryn (from USD 500)
Best for: Group stays, nature lovers, couples
One of the most affordable Airbnb vacation rentals in the beautiful town of Stryn in Vestland is this two-bedroom lodging hosted by Knut Gunnar. I’m in love with the authentic rustic elements; the exterior is painted black and has a sod roof, and there’s a nice seating area on the deck that overlooks the mountains.
Stryn’s town center is a short distance from the property, while the ocean is a 5-km (3.10 mi) drive away. This cottage comes equipped with free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen television, and basic kitchen essentials.

10. Beautiful apartment on a fjord in Aurland (from USD 123)
Best for: Group trips, nature lovers
It is a two-bed, two-bath, fully furnished apartment featuring a well-equipped kitchen and tastefully designed living spaces. You may mistake it for any other apartment, but the fact that it is located on the third-largest fjord in the world gives it the uniqueness that I believe you will not find anywhere else.
If you are looking forward to hiking the Norwegian mountains, or you are interested in going for a fjord safari, this is one of the best accommodation options you will ever find in the region.

This is a real Norwegian cabin located right in the middle of the green woods, so if you want an authentic nature retreat, I highly suggest you book this one. It is small, cozy, but comes fully equipped with all you will ever need for a decent stay, especially if you are a backpacker.
