Chicago is rightly dubbed as the “Windy City” for its breezy weather. It does, however, enjoy the summer weather, which is why it’s the perfect season to enjoy outdoor amusements before staying at hotels with a hot tub to relax. One of the places to head to this time of the year is Schaumburg - a suburb in Chicago’s northern region, which has the best Airbnb vacation rentals and quietly made a name in the past years as the attraction to head to for children’s entertainment. One of these attractions is Atcher Island, a Polynesian-themed water park that offers amusement for adults and children alike. If you’re interested in checking out what this destination has to offer, here is a guide to Atcher Island, Schaumburg.
Things to do / highlights
Below are the things that you can expect to see when visiting the Atcher Island water park.
Water fun
Atcher Island is more than just swimming pools. It also features a lot of features to make a day at the park fun for everyone, regardless of age. Some of the things that you can see and use while you’re here include two giant water slides and a unique circular drop slide. If you’re traveling with a toddler and are leery about bringing him/her in the pool, don’t worry, because there’s also a sprayground on site so they can still have fun in the water without being fully submerged. For those whose little ones are brave about entering the water, there’s a toddler pool with a small slide. Do note that there are height requirements for some of these attractions, so plan accordingly.
Slides
The slides deserve to be mentioned separately, owing to their uniqueness. The blue slide twists and turns a few times for additional fun before descending into a shallow pool. The yellow slide, meanwhile, features a sharp descent with a few spins that recalls a toilet being flushed, ending in a drop to a deep pool.
Pool rental
Looking for a place to rent for a party this summer? Don’t worry, because Atcher Island is actually available for rent for pool parties and pool rentals.
Travel tips
Storage
In case you want to bring a change of clothes, you don’t have to worry about your stuff getting wet, as there are lockers that are available where you can stash your things while you’re having fun in the water.
Refreshments
It’s understandable that you can feel a bit of hunger after spending a fun time playing in and out of the water. In case you get a hankering for food or drinks, refreshments are offered on-site for an additional fee. The food offered here is your typical amusement park fare, e.g. hot dogs, hamburgers, bratwursts, nachos, and chicken sandwiches. Imagine nursing a cool drink while lounging by the pool on a warm sunny day. Heavenly!
Reservations
If you’re interested in renting this place to yourself for a party, you’re in luck, because you can make arrangements to have the pool all to yourself and your group for two hours and the shaded area for an hour. What’s more, the package is already inclusive of hot dogs and chips or pizza, as well as drinks and paperware. A host is also included in the rates to bring another level of fun to your party. Special arrangements can also be made if you want to rent the pool at night. As with the day passes, rates are different for residents and non-residents.
