Kenanga Port Dickson Triathlon: A trial of endurance, the annual Kenanga Port Dickson Triathlon is sure to be a fun event to try out with your friends (even if you don’t manage to finish the entire course). There’s even a Junior Triathlon Course! For adults, the Olympic Distance Triathlon will have a 1.5-km (0.93-mi) swimming loop, a 40-km (24.85-mi) biking loop, and a 10-km (6.21-mi) run. Avillion Admiral Cove is the starting point for most of the races, and for 2024, the event is to be held on the 4th and 5th of May.
Raptor Watch: One of the biggest eco-tourism events in the country, Raptor Watch is a birdwatching event held in Tanjung Tuan, which is just 30 minutes away from central Port Dickson. The annual event is held on the first weekend of March, and you can expect to see about 12 different kinds of raptors as they migrate towards their breeding grounds in the north. Various other activities such as nature walks, beach cleanup drives, and games are held in connection with the event. I’d love to check out one of their exhibitions to better understand the indigenous methods of conservation employed to protect the raptors.

Beach life in Port Dickson
Port Dickson offers an almost 18-km (11.18-mi) coastline peppered with contiguous beaches. One of the most popular of these is Teluk Kemang Beach which is surrounded by hotels, resorts, and other accommodations. The wide sands and calm sea here are perfect for watersports, and the beach is equipped with gazebos, shower facilities, and sun loungers so that tourists can take it slow. Other popular options include Pantai Saujana, which is great for kiteflying, and Pantai Purnama, so named because it’s a great spot to watch the moon. Tanjung Gemuk Beach is a unique spot where sea turtles come to lay their eggs!
Seafood is obviously very popular in Port Dickson. Hawker stalls are plentiful in the area, but make sure to check out the kopitiams, which are traditional Chinese coffee shops. As someone who loves trying out new things, I’m feeling particularly partial towards ikan tiga rasa, a hot, sweet, and sour dish that traces its origins to Malaysia and Singapore. May and August are the sunniest months, and the temperature usually settles at a high of 30°C (86°F). Blue Lagoon Beach is a great spot to watch the sunset, and for sunrises, you can head to Pantai Cermin.
