For those travelers who love a renovated classic hotel, the Hotel Belmont Dallas is a winner. Carefully restored in 2004 guests can take a trip into America’s past when most people traveled by car and stayed in “motor courts” along America’s highways.

Graceful design

After the restoration, the Belmont Hotel Dallas retained its Art Moderne design showing off graceful lines and curves. The big difference since renovating is what the owners did to the interior. Fully modernized, decorated and cleaned up the Hotel Belmont Dallas shines. Choose from six shiny and clean room types depending on your budget and needs. The New Standard room features 260 sq ft/24.15 m², one or two queen beds, flat panel TV, free WiFi, and room service. The Deluxe room is slightly bigger with 300 sq ft/ 27.9m² adding city views and side porches in most rooms.

A variety of Junior Suites can accommodate two to four guests. Some of these are bi-level, but single level suites are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Step up to a Suite with approximately 600 sq ft/m². Some of these luxurious suites come with large soaking tubs so you can kick off your cowboy boots and relax a while. You could choose a Suite with a balcony or even a wet bar if desired. The Terrace Suite will provide guests with an uphill room with city views and side porches. On good weather days, your porch is the place to relax and enjoy the view. All rooms feature tile flooring, Lather toiletries, fine linens, comfortable beds, and garden courtyards for outside breaks. Complimentary coffee is served in the hotel lounge.

Several food sources are available nearby to supply your eating and drinking needs on this classic porch. Valet parking is available for 15 USD or 5 USD to park next door in the parking lot at Smoke restaurant. Choose the valet option if you want easy access to your car. They park it close to your room. If you want to bring your dog, they have 5 pet-friendly rooms and charge a mere 25 USD per night for pet.

Several food sources are available nearby to supply your eating and drinking needs on this classic porch. Smoke is the restaurant next door and is reason enough to want to stay at the Hotel Belmont Dallas. Smoke has won numerous awards for their creative farm-to-table Texas Barbeque and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For a great tasting starter try their Smoke Sausage plate with pork Andouille, all spiced rabbit, beef paprika, and spicy lamb. This starter pairs well with a glass of beer or red wine. My favorite dish was the Grilled Quail featuring four marinated, perfectly seasoned and grilled quail on top of a chickpea, bbq chile, mint and parsley salad. It was the best quail dish I’ve ever had and at 23 USD was a bargain.

Other menu items of note would be the beef brisket. With just the right amount of smoke flavor and fork tender, it’s a must have for bbq beef lovers. One of the biggest surprises was the Chicken Tamale. Overflowing with mild chile flavor and a super-moist corn pastry-like wrapper it was incredible. All of these items and more are available for carry out or room service if you would like to eat in your room or porch.

Just across the street caddy-corner is a grocery store, (Cox Farms Market) with most any food items you might need. I was impressed with their selection of organic produce and chocolate bars. Steps away from Cox Farms Market is CiboDivino Marketplace and Café. The owner is from Italy and has stocked the shelves with dozens of fine wines for carry out. Here you will find a Chef’s Case and prepared meals for takeout. You can also grab a seat at the bar and order pizza and wine in a sparkling new building tastefully decorated. If you love real gelato, this is the place. They feature Paciugo Gelato boasting real milk, real sugar, real Italia.

Next to the Hotel Belmont lobby is the intimate BarBelmont where you can grab a signature cocktail, wine or beer. Check out live music in the bar on weekends. If the weather is cooperative sit on the terrace and watch the sunset sipping a cold refreshing drink. Hotel Belmont Dallas has a very cool pool. Located a short walk downhill is the pool oasis with an expansive view of the Dallas skyline. This is a great place for a party in their year-round pool area. Tables with umbrellas, lounge chairs and a lush green lawn offer plenty of space to enjoy this refuge overlooking Dallas. The pool and other areas of the hotel are available for special events.

A chic and convenient spot

With a great location just 1.6 miles from downtown, the Hotel Belmont Dallas is a convenient spot. It is so close to downtown Dallas those wanting some exercise could walk downtown and take a taxi back. Even though many guests of the Hotel Belmont Dallas could afford much pricier hotels, the charm of this classic motor court seduces many to choose it over flashy modern hotels. Who can deny the curvy white masonry lines of such a classic beauty?
