This place is a no-frills casual dining spot that offers amazing Haitian food including griot (fried marinated pork), poulet (chicken legs stewed in a red gravy sauce), tassot cabrit (deep-fried marinated goat meat), stewed turkey, Haitian-style fried chicken, fried red snapper, ke beef (stewed oxtail), fried shrimp, fried tilapia fillet, Cajun meatballs, and more.

Chef Creole is a popular restaurant and one of the top places to go in Miami when it comes to Haitian food for more than two decades. The place has actually attracted some celebrities such as Floyd Mayweather Jr., Dwyane Wade, Anthony Bourdain, Kevin Hart, and the Obamas among many others. Ivan’s Cookhouse serves some interesting takes on both traditional Haitian and Asian cuisine. Asian fusion isn’t exactly anything new but very few chefs tend to blend it with traditional Carribean fare. Chef Ivan Dorvil is a Cordon Bleu graduate and he will make your taste buds salivate with amazing dishes like braised oxtail and island ceviche.

4. L'auberge Restaurant
L'auberge Restaurant serves some classic Haitian and Carribean food that will warm the soul. The atmosphere is really more a fast food/casual place so don’t worry about having to sit down and spend lots of time here if you’re short on time. The portions are huge and every dish comes with a side of rice, rice and beans and fried plantains. The fried pork is a local favorite (called Griot) and the goat stew is to die for.

I was born in Leningrad, now St. Petersburg, in the Soviet Union, and left for the USA when I was 23 years old, just out of college. Leningrad was and still is a city with great cultural traditions. I fell in love with its world-famous museums, art galleries, theaters, and other attractions. I have been guiding tours for most of my life and began while still in high school. During the summer, Leningrad was visited by numerous youth groups from the UK and USA and English-speaking students were recruited to show them around. That is how I got my first taste of being a tour guide. I continued guiding through college and often worked with young adults. After leaving the USSR, I settled in New York City, went to graduate school, and started my own travel company in 1985. We primarily worked with international visitors showing them famous places of interest all over the country, from coast to coast. Though I had other tour guides working at my company, I continued to guide because it was rewarding and enjoyable. I traveled extensively throughout the country and that's how I first became acquainted with South Florida. I instantly fell in love with this beautiful place and eventually moved to the Miami Beach area. I love South Florida and want my tourists to feel the same way. I am exhilarated by its nature and history and I promise to get you excited as well. See you in Miami!

Tap Tap Restaurant is located in Miami’s illustrious South Beach neighborhood and it has been a staple of classic Haitian dishes there for over 20 years. The story goes that Madame Johns used to sell Griot (a fried pork dish) out of her home in Little Haiti. Business was good that on weekends, cars would line the streets creating tons of traffic, just to get a taste of Madame Johns delicious meals. And now, she has her own restaurant. This restaurant is primarily a take-out counter but there are a few seats in the restaurant and a TV tuned to Haitian TV channels and if you’re lucky, you might not have to wait in line. The service can be a little slow but there’s a reason why it’s so busy here.
