Looking for great halal food in London? London is a diverse place for delicacies, with cuisines ranging from authentic Indian food to classic British favorites. Here are some of the best halal restaurants in London for you try different flavors and fill your stomach!

1. 1. Enjoy sizzling Mediterranean-style barbecue over the hob at Lokkanta

This Turkish restaurant tries to recreate the Turkish ‘mangal’ or barbecue experience in London, and to great success. The diner has a relaxed atmosphere with Turkish music accompaniment, while the fresh meat and veggies are barbecued behind a glass window. Order a meze platter (available in hot or cold) together with 100% British lamb kebabs and a baklava for dessert to truly get the full experience. Furthermore, the restaurant staff is also highly friendly. Although not on the menu, do try ordering the ezme salad with the staff. It is simply worth it.

Quirkily introduced as having no ovens, pans or pots, the Lokkanta utilizes the most classic form of cooking–meat over an open fire. Be sure to visit for its rustic, fast-diner style and the reasonably priced menu.

Offering cheap and delicious Delhi street food, Hankies does not beat around the bush in trying to be fancy. A speciality is the roomali roti, aka hankies, from the restaurant name. A classic Indian roti, the hankie is hand spun till it is see-through and cooked on a burning hot roomali tawa. The roomali is then folded into ‘hankies’. Hankies is amazing for those on a budget. Try their signature chili lamb chop and mango chutney. This combination with an aam gur ki kher (Mango, rice, caramel, cardamom dessert) is simply hearty.

Experience the finest of Vietnamese flavors at the House of Ho, which introduces contemporary Vietnamese cuisine. Although on the pricier and luxurious side, the House of Ho doesn’t disappoint with its different menus and intimate dining rooms. Check out the Bottomless Brunch menus. Providing three sharing starters such as the duck bun bao or the Saigon chicken salad, followed by a main of curry, chicken, fish or beef, sides and then dessert, the menu sure does live up to its name.

Moreover, its a la carte menu is also impressive. We recommend the jasmine smoked chili glazed ribs or Vietnamese smoked egg as appetizers and the classic pho, or the speciality ‘ho’ dishes such as the wild mushroom & vermicelli bowl. House of Ho’s sushi and sashimi is also renowned with such a range, you will be sure to find something to your preference. The restaurant’s group chef director, Ian Pengelley, is London’s pan-Asian cuisine expert, ensuring your dinner is placed in good hands.

Jamavar restaurant promises you a great North Indian dining experience, as seen through its origin story. Responding to a close friend’s lament, that diners could not get a fine North Indian dining experience when living in the South, Nair, the restaurant owner, decided to give his friends the real deal. He brought master chefs from New Delhi, the capital city, to oversee the North Indian cuisine, and from Chennai, located on the coast of the Bay of Bengal, to look after the South Indian menu. Jamavar, to this day, remains the ultimate star in the chain of its parent hotels.

Check out the 7 course non-vegetarian menu. Feel free to leave out the accompanying wine choice for a halal meal. It offers a tellicherry pepper & garlic soft shell crab, lobster idli sambhar, tulsi chicken tikka, prawn mappas, old Delhi butter chicken and much, much more. Otherwise, the a la carte menu is just as spectacular.

7. 7. Grab some hearty, fresh baked pie for a quick snack

The first halal pie cafe in the UK, Pie Factory promises quality as their pies are handmade and baked on site. All other dishes are similarly prepared fresh daily, with ingredients sourced locally. We recommend the classic chicken and mushroom pie or the homely fish pie. Although, the speciality pies seem particularly alluring. The steak and mushroom or chicken tikki masala pie are both great choices for those desiring some variety in their pies. The restaurant also offers a full English breakfast or a biryani main for those seeking full meals.

Pie Factory is also great for the wallet! Head down soon to get some freshly baked pies!

An attempt to recreate the nostalgia of the old Irani cafes, Dishoom paints the hearty scene where fans turned slowly, bentwood chairs were reflected in stained mirrors, next to sepia family portraits. For breakfast, Dishoom provides a hefty menu featuring the Bombay omelette, a three-egg omelette of chopped tomato, onion, and served with grilled tomato and fire toast. Otherwise, the akuri, an Irani café staple, is also available as a homage to the old Irani cafes.

Try out the signature Dishoom naan rolls, where each naan is freshly baked by hand, and to order, then filled with two fried free range eggs for the egg naan roll. All meals are strongly encouraged to be enjoyed with a breakfast lassi. With a quaint and alluring atmosphere, the Dishoom cafe is surely one to visit.
